"There were virtually no Muslims in this country until what, the 50s? 60s? How did we get started doing this?"

According to this report from the Center for Immigration Studies, the U.S. had only 29,000 muslim immigrants from the Middle East as of 1970. At that time, close to 90% of Middle Eastern immigrants were Christian.

I don't doubt this. The unspoken issue for Americans is the cost. Estimated at above $20-$25 billion during Oslo, I suspect it's ten times that. There are 4 million palestinians to be moved, after all. They can't be settled in places like Syria, Lebanon, Jordan or Gaza. They already live there, and aren't wanted.

“I love Israel, but not enough to welcome 100,000 brainwashed Pali-bombers as my new neighbors!”

No joke.

And as a good neighbor, I would not wish them on you. Bush lived in a strange sense of denial about the nature of muslim arabs of this sort.

Cannibals are from New Guinea, not from the Congo.
Most Congolese are Catholic; when ‘s the last time you read of any non-Muslim African immigrants causing trouble here ?

Thanks for responding to that - I was about to, and it would not have come out as nicely as yours did. Sometimes I wish FReepers did some basic research on matters ...I've seen some posts (not this one- far worse) that could have come from some DUmmie over at DU.

Actually, the level of Catholic growth in Africa (which has been growing from the late 50s) is so frenetic that there are people being selected to be priests in Europe (where the Church has been declining at such a level that getting new priests is quite difficult).

As for the cannibalism ...I would be good money the location of New Guinea is a mystery to most (and that the response would be the usual 'who cares,' which some feel shows elegant nonchalance when it veritably proves an atrophied, and basely asinine, level of mental acuity and logic incoherence).

The Korowai tribe of south-eastern Papua could be one of the last surviving tribes in the world engaging in cannibalism, although there have been media reports of soldiers/rebels in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Liberia eating body parts to intimidate child soldiers or captives.

I wish FReepers would do some some basic research on these matters.

Well, a German (Armin Meiwes) was not only eating people but putting ads out (the adverts were in a Cannibalism website that was there for the purpose of linking eaters with those mentally deranged enough to want to be eaten). The 'Maneater of Rotenburg' was finally caught. Does that mean Germany is in the same category as Papua New Guinea? After all, they have even made finding 'meat' quite efficient ...home delivery service!

There is a difference between a series of tribes that routinely engaged in cannibalism (and suffered the ill-effects, such as CJD) and is located in the South West Pacific, and where the eating of a human was part of the culture, with 'media reports' of rebels in the Congo 'eating body parts to intimidate child soldiers or captives.'

As I said, I wish FReepers would do some basic research on these matters.

Well wait a minute, first you suggest there is no cannibalism in the Congo and when show there was reports of if, you bring up people in Germany....lol

Ya can't have it both ways.

But next time I need advise on cannibalism, I'll check with you first....

You're welcome to check with me first. As for the Congo vs PNG, and the Germany vs PNG - the reason is in PNG cannibalism, until quite recently, was an institution. Not the case in the Congo, nor in Germany. Your comparison was tantamount to one using an example of religious extremism in (say) Christianity (for instance, a parent letting their child die due to lack of medicine because he believes medicines are sinful) and comparing that to religious extremism in (say) Islam, where it is basically an institution. Are there christians who do daft things? Yes, there are. However, that is not analogous to some of the daftness when it comes to Islam as practiced in Arabia.

Thus, was there cannibalism in the Congo? Yes, if your reports are correct (and I have no reason to doubt their accuracy), as rebels ate some body parts to intimidate the young and the imprisoned. Is there cannibalism in Germany? Yes, as shown in the acts of that person, and moreover in the website that exists for various levels of that purpose (until his case, mostly for just little bits of flesh).

However, neither situation is comparable to the cannibalism in PNG, where it is an institution. In much the same way that some crazy kook denying his kid meds or a blood transfusion in the name of Christianity is not comparable to some of the behaviors that occur in certain areas of the Islamic world, where it is an institution for (say) a raped woman to bring forth 3 male witnesses (I've always marveled at that ...3 male 'witnesses' at the scene were most probably the rapists) to support her side of the story.

Anyways, I am always open for consultation ....

You seem rather dense...

Ya see I wasn't doing a comparison thing as you're implying. I only mentioned there was cannibalism in the Congo, which my link *clearly* corroborates.

Sorry your alleged expertise regarding cannibalism was brought into question. Didn't mean to break your ego.

I'm not even a cannibal expert....LOL!

:^)

You calling me 'dense' is quite humorous. Let's leave it at that since we are both FReepers (and besides, there are more prudent things than cannibals to call each other stupid over), but that honestly did give me a laugh. Have a blessed day Dragnet2.

I thought so too!

No hard feelings though.
