Now we’re talking. I’ve said and continue to say that tax cuts are just shuffling deck chairs on the Titanic. We need to cut whole departments out of the government and either eliminate them out of hand, or divide them up and return them to the states, for the individual states to fund and keep or defund and close as they see fit.
Education tops the list but it only starts the list. BLM, the park services, the forestry services, fish and game, all of these need to be handed off to the states. Even EPA needs to be divided up and handed over to the states. If you work in Washington, guess what, your job just moved to Des Moines or any of 49 other state capitals.
The US government has no business being in the land business. Federal lands need to be handed over to the states for them to do with as they will. BLM land in general probably needs to be simply privatized, sold off to local citizens.
What about military bases? And should Area 51 be given to the aliens?
While some of the expansion of federal holdings is legitimately opposed, it is quite appropriate for the federal government to own and hold land. I am a strong supporter of the National Park Service, and conserving our most beautiful places, for the common good, is strongly supported by most citizens. Likewise most of the holdings of the National Forrest Service.
In short, you have raised a losing argument and I would drop it.
