Delaware Republican Senate nominee Christine O'Donnell responded to old clips that surfaced over the weekend where she said she had once "dabbled in witchcraft," clarifying at a GOP picnic in Delaware Sunday, "I was in high school, how many of you didn't hang out with questionable folks in high school? But no, There's been no witchcraft since, if there was, Karl Rove would be a supporter."
The jab at the former President George W. Bush senior adviser came after Rove had cast doubt on her ability to carry the state for the GOP and said there are too many questions about her past.
The nominee showed up at the picnic in a key county that helped secure her GOP Tuesday primary upset, despite canceling previously scheduled appearances on "Fox News Sunday" and CBS' "Face the Nation." Her campaign backed out of the talk show interviews, saying she needed to get back to Delaware and had a scheduling conflict, including attending church and then the afternoon picnic.
She was greeted with a raucous applause at the annual Sussex County GOP picnic with chants of "yes we can" and "yes we will!"
Many in the crowd kept saying "get over it," to the media when she clarified her original witchcraft comments, which included her giving details about a date she had with a witch. The 1999 tape from "Politically Incorrect" first surfaced Friday when Bill Maher aired it on "Real Time with Bill Maher," saying he would keep airing clips until she appeared on his show.
Local Republicans seemed un-phased by the latest clip, which followed other television interviews that surfaced where O'Donnell talked about such issues as sex and condoms on MTV and to Phil Donahue.

I got the line wrong. Watch it to the end to see how it should read.

I think your theory is the the one that makes the most sense.
Rove and Krauthammer prepare to eliminate the worrisome
woman for their employer, Mitt Romney.
Rove has made no secret of his support for Romney as McCains VP.
My suggested response:
“I dabbled in witchcraft, but I didn’t inhale.”
What you said is true, Delawhere.
I heard Russ Murphy say this at Christine's Tuesday night election rally in Dover. It shocked me. As the week wore on, it was apparent that Karl Rove had a vested interest in Castle--something he never disclosed on O'Reilly, Hannity, Greta, or Wallace.
And note he says NOTHING about Lisa Murkowski.
My wife and I attended the Sussex County Republican picnic this afternoon. When Christine made the remark that is the topic of this thread, she brought down the house, and we all cheered. She was mobbed by media as she made the round of tables to meet and greet folks. She also gave a short speech to rally everyone for ALL the candidates on the Republican ticket, right down to local County offices.
I talked with Russ Murphy also, about Tokyo Rove. Russ is a quiet man, who doesn't need to get excited to make sure you understand his point-exactly. He stood in the background, as he is a modest man.He wears a brown leather vest proudly emblazoned with the Delaware 9-12 Patriots logos.
It was also announced by the Sussex County Chairman that Tom Ross was on his way to DC to meet with the national GOP and the NRSC.
We need to watch Tom Ross very carefully in my opinion. I want to see with my own eyes that the GOP will help Christine.
Any write in campaign by Castle would be the ultimate betrayal of Christine, Glen Urquardt, and all Republicans, and with Rove, Ross abd Castle being real jerks this past week, I don't trust any of them.
I am an Independent, or as they say in DE, unaffiliated. But I have voted for Christine twice, in 2006 and 2008, and I believe in her.
Fellow Freepers, if you know anyone in DE, or have relatives or friends in DE, you can help--we need you to talk up Christine to them--we will need every Indie and Dem vote we can muster.
As they say at Christine's rallies--"Yes, we WILL!"

Its not a charge, its a video clip of the next senator from Delaware admitting that she dated a witch and thought about becoming one.Combine this with her questionable financial issues and she will be 20 points down by Friday. Don't blame Rove for this. O'Donnell is a charmer who is too naive for the national stage. Imagine the comments on Halloween a few days before the election.I think she should dress in a witch costume for Halloween and make light of the entire fiasco. Also Maher said he has more tapes to release. I am amazed that freeper comments are almost 100% in denial about this issue. We need more Chris Christie and less Chrissy O’Donnells
Scary and creepy...
its not what she did or when that matters. its the video. If we can hold Coombs to his African Marxism statements and the big O to his books and preachers and commie affiliations and his cocaine, then they can use witchcraft against O'Donnell. She will be hurt by this in the polls and combined with her other baggage is not a serious candidate for US Senate.the TEA party is a double edged sword. Definitely not politics as usual. I will still support Christine, but you got to admit she's not Ronald Reagan. I think her best approach to this is to wear a witch costume on Halloween and spoof the whole thing
Check my post # 105 on this thread— a little more info on the event this afternoon in Sussex County.
Thanks! So, are we to understand that Tom Ross might be coming around to support and unite with Christine’s campaign?
That’s what it was made to sound like by the County Chairman.
I want to believe that, but Ross/Castle/Rollins took such a hit on Tuesday, that until I hear it with my own two ears, I cannot trust Tom Ross or the other two.
I feel that the drama has not yet played out completely here in DE. I hope I am wrong.
I am firm in my support of Christine—I just feel that Castle et al are not gone as a threat yet. I have only my gut and few facts to go on.
But now that the crassness and low brow behavior of the establishment GOP here in DC has been revealed for all to see, it is like the toothpaste that cannot be put back into the tube.
Chalk me down as “Trust, but verify” on this one, as the Gipper used to say.
Now let’s hear Coons justify his “I’m a bearded Marxist” claim from his college days.....
Right. I agree, and Cornyn has already said he was sending Christine the max of $42K, so I don’t know why Ross would need to see him.
Third day in a row CNN.com has it on their front page.
Good grief.
Seems like cnn is under a “spell” - it must be “witch craft”!
Karl Rove has been aiding Chris Coons by promoting the witchhunt against Christine O’Donnell:
