Powell: Illegals Work on My House

Former Secretary of State Colin Powell says illegal immigrants do essential work in the U.S. and he has firsthand knowledge of that -- because they fix his house.

Powell, a moderate Republican, urged his party Sunday to support immigration generally because it is "what's keeping this country's lifeblood moving forward."

In an interview with NBC's "Meet the Press," he said a path to legal status should be offered to illegal immigrants in the U.S. because they "are doing things we need done in this country."

He added: "They're all over my house, doing things whenever I call for repairs, and I'm sure you've seen them at your house. We've got to find a way to bring these people out of the darkness and give them some kind of status."

Support LEGAL immigration. This country's lifeblood isn't kept flowing by lawlessness and complete disregard for our national borders. Even the most right-wing party with a seat in a parliament just about anywhere else in the world is far left of a blue dog democrat.

Just to give an example, of the 4 major parties in Mexico, 2 are members of the Socialist International, 1 is Maoist and the 4th, considered their center-right party is about where the Democrats are economically.

As far as the vast majority world (well that which isn't Muslim) is concerned, our most milquetoast Republican is a radical right winger. Why would we want the electorate of these countries moving here? On the off chance you might get a Cuban or a Vietnamese or two to vote for a tax cutting politician?

Not even close to worth it in my cost/benefit analysis.
