Actually it was Bob Schieffer, not Marcia Choakley, who made that gaffe. Marcia just made every other gaffe in the book. She was a terrible candidate, I think she got by being the woman in the race prior to the Senate contest.
I know for a fact that Coakley supporters were collecting signatures to get other male candidates (there were ultimately four) on the primary ballot.
