Where there's a will there's a way: silkscreening, for example. There are even edible inks. A good school project, if you ask me. Of course those "teachers" wouldn't know a good project from a hole in the ground.

How to you write Happy birthday on a cupcake.

I would imagine they wrote on donuts that were actually things like cream filled pastries (donuts without holes).

A large cinnamon roll would have been ideal for writing a someone reasonable verse/phrase...

You can do that by putting FOUR cupcakes together, and quadrupling the space for putting lettering on top.

Some stores offer cupcake cakes with lettering on them.

This would be like a 5x9 cupcake cake.

This is done so that the cake does not have to be sliced, but people just grab a cupcake...

That would be another way -- put four square donuts together...

This is not necessarily what the students did, but ideas for other people to do something like this in the future -- easily...
