I have never quite understood the trade “independents” are willing to make. They would rather have high taxes, oppressive regulation, and big government than risk the possibility of some government restrictions on killing human embryos. This does not sound logical to me.
That is because you lack both basic morality, and you approach all things from a perspective that takes atheism as a given.
There is no other way to get where you are. If you were even agnostic then that entails the possibility that your actions today can have consequences that extend beyond your death.
You are up against a fundamentally insurmountable wall between worldviews.
