I am no Obama fan, but (to be fair) we don’t know who the source is for this article. It could be a real insider, but perhaps not. There is nothing in here that one could not have derived from existing new stories, from the NYT to the Enquirer. Just color me skeptical.

I do agree with one thing. No matter how badly Obama seems to be doing, it quite possible he could win in 2012.

Me, too. In fact, I'd say if he runs, it's likely he will win, assuming there is still a country and an election in 2012. Like the article says, no one beats Obama when it comes to campaigning. It's what he lives for. He does well because it's totally scripted and controlled. It's just read the lines and act the part. Obama does that.

He'll have the power of presidential incumbency and the mainstream media 110% in his corner. Those are powerful advantages. The media will make a caricature of any opponent (especially Palin). In that sense, it will be like 1964 all over again. It can be different if we get a strong, charismatic candidate with broad national appeal and the mood of the country is so foul that no amount of media spin will help Zero (like it was in 1980). I can see the latter happening, but am doubtful about the former.
