I got a peek into what is going on behind the Army as I watched the Senate hearings on the Fort Hood massacre. Useless Senator Carl Levin brought up a quote of Pat Robertson who had said that Islam is not so much a religion as a totalitarian system. Levin asked everybody of the panel what they thought of this and everyone dutifully expressed their disagreement with what Robertson said. I was shocked to see what was going on in our government today. It was like Levin was asking everyone on that panel to bow down before Islam. No Senator has any right to ask anyone what they think about any religion—this is a violation of his position as a US Senator. Everyone is entitled to their religious beliefs without being questioned by a Senate inquisition.
This look at the Senate hearing was a shocking glimpse at what is going on behind the scenes in our military. This only slipped out by accident because Levin was too clueless to see how bad this made him look.
There is also lots of sleazy politics behind these actions of Levin since he is a Senator from Michigan which is a state with a very large Muslim population. It had the appearance of the Democrats pandering to one of the newest immigrant groups just as they pander to the Mexicans.
You’re correct. The military (speaking solely from my Air Force perspective) isn’t the same as it was when I came in. It’s been injected with all kinds of tolerance/PC nonsense and frankly I fear it’ll ultimately destroy it or at the very least make it ineffective.
Politicians want to view the military through civilian lenses and it’s just incompatible with the order and discipline a fighting force requires. “Openly gay” members? Are you kidding me? I could care less who a man (or woman) wants to be with, but openly? When/if that happens it will all begin to erode.
The recent Army incidents are just examples we know about. Unfortunately there are degrees of that in every branch.
