Not every admission of guilt is really an admission of guilt.

The law says otherwise.

Not really. Case in point, plea bargains. The kid who ran a red light 7 years ago, totalling my vehicle pled to a parking ticket. You really have no point.

The law says otherwise.

The law kept Innocent men in jail for 30 years.

The law says otherwise.

Two things about the law:

1. It is, frequently and demonstrably, an ass (h/t Mr. Dickens).

2. It can be changed, for good or ill, at the whim of those in power. It behooves us, therefore, to ensure a lower level of ass-ness in our elected or appointed officials at every opportunity.
