John Kerry bitter as Tea Party gains steam [Schadenfreude!!]
The Boston Herald ^ | September 16, 2010 | Hillary Chabot and Edward Mason

U.S. Sen. John Kerry yesterday mocked Republicans as “Sarah Palin’s party” even as the New Hampshire Senate candidate she backed claimed victory in Tuesday’s primary and a Tea Party favorite emerged as the GOP’s best hope to break the Democratic stranglehold on the Bay State delegation.

“I think the Tea Party couldn’t ask for any better publicity than to be denounced by a millionaire who dodges paying taxes on his yacht,” said conservative gadfly Glenn Reynolds of Instapundit.

Kerry seized on a Republican rift following Tea Party victories across the country - among them, Palin’s “chosen radical rightwing candidate” GOP U.S. Senate nominee Christine O’Donnell, who triumphed in Delaware over establishment Republican Mike Castle.

“The news from Delaware is crystal clear: It’s Sarah Palin’s party now,” Kerry wrote in a fund-raising e-mail titled “Delawow!” distributed yesterday. “We have to fight back. Click here to contribute right now to make sure we defeat the Tea Party extremists.”

But conservative Washington observers said Republicans will get the last laugh come November.

“Kerry is the guy whose political instincts are always wrong. This guy’s presidential campaign was a punch line,” Reynolds said. “To call the Tea Party extremists is a joke.”

GOP analysts reveled in big conservative wins Tuesday, including Kelly Ayotte - graced by Palin with one of her coveted “mama grizzly” endorsements - who snatched a primary victory over Tea Party favorite Ovide Lamontagne.

Among GOP challengers to the Bay State’s all-Democrat congressional delegation, Republican state Rep. Jeff Perry - beloved by local Tea Partiers - is given more than a fighting chance of winning the seat being vacated by Democratic U.S. Rep. William Delahunt.

National Republican Congressional Committee spokesman Tory Mazzola said the party is poised to come to the aid of Perry with fund-raising help and volunteers.

“What you see from Democrats are blatant attempts to distract voters from their partisan, big government agenda in Washington instead of focusing on the issues,” Mazzola said.

Delahunt also sought to highlight the GOP infighting yesterday - painting Democrat William Keating as more attractive to the district’s conservative base.

“To call Jeff Perry a traditional Republican I think is hyperbole. He’s embraced the Tea Party,” Delahunt said at a rally yesterday for Keating in Plymouth. “What I see right now is the emergence of two Republican parties. I think Bill Keating will have a strong appeal to traditional Republicans.”

Conservative blogger William Jacobson of Legal Insurrection said Democrats have sought to “demonize” Tea Party candidates and their supporters going back to Scott Brown’s upstart campaign - and it’s backfired.

“They may think it’s funny and a cute tactic now, but they will regret it ultimately,” Jacobson said.

Massachusetts Republican Party chair Jennifer Nassour chimed in: “Kerry may laugh now, but the Isabel’s skipper will be crying when the GOP breaks the Democrat’s choke hold on Capitol Hill.”

Meanwhile, O’Donnell’s win sparked fireworks yesterday between two of the GOP’s heaviest hitters: Karl Rove and Rush Limbaugh. Rove, who had opposed O’Donnell, lashed out at her and Limbaugh quickly hit back.

“Why is he so mad at a Republican?” Limbaugh said. “Where was this anger directed at a Democrat ever?”

Sure, that’ll win us friends and allies everywhere.

The independents are realizing the mistake they made in voting “against” Palin.

Is he actually wrong here? Works for me. And she didn't even fight in Vietnam.

No, but her son fought in Iraq. And i don’t think he threw any medals over a fence or hobnobbed with Jane Fonda and the Weather Underground, either.

At least the Dems are showing some progress. It only took two years, but Axelrod and Barry have finally come up with a new strategy. They must have updated the standard teleprompter speeches and bullet point talking point memo by just replacing “Bush” with “Palin” and “Cheney” with “Boehner.” Kerry is executing as well as he did in 2004 when he spent his Presidential campaign windsurfing in a rubber unitard.

Yeah, Lurch served Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam. Now he should stuff a sock in it and minimize further embarrassment to the Demonratic Party.

John Kerry is a turd. The guy has leeched off of every woman he has every met and now he leeches of that Heinz broad. I have more experience in my left pinky than he has ever even dreamed of. I'm not sorry to say it but he would be the absolute worst choice for the secretary of state. He waffles so much i bet his spit wouldn't even freeze at the south pole. The guy is a proven buffoon. The only thing he has going for him is that he is good at leeching off other people. It's time for him to be defeated in an election. I thought the broad Clinton had was bad, ya know Mrs. hutsie tutsie who discovered she was Jewish something like year after she was in office. This guy though is laughed at world wide by every country on the face of the earth. Nobody not even the small islands in the pacific respect him. Like i said, he's a turd with pickles added.

Good question. I guess Rove won't be behind the Golden Mike at EIB for a while.

What a great line!
