If I recall correctly this is about a corrupt, family run local Republican party that is run as a way for certain crooks to line their pockets without ever opposing the dems. These bozos get their share of local government contracts as payoff for not posing any real threat to the Democrats. It’s amazing what one honest person with guts can accomplish.

What blew my mind is that there is any form of Republican apparatus in Philthidelphia. Frank Rizzo was as close a Republican that the city could take.

You recall correctly. The family is the Meehans. Austin Meehan started the scam back in the 50s when the GOP lost power in Philly, followed by Meehan followed by Michael.

The problem in Philly is that there is a GOP that doesn't try to win because last place has been made so comfy for them.

Which is why the Meehans are terrified of Kevin Kelly who is rocking the boat.
