Mayor Richard Daley today called for an end to a high-profile federal education program that was the brainchild of the Obama administration and his own former Chicago Public Schools chief.
The mayor also said Chicago school officials should have been more involved with Illinois' failed bid to qualify for the money in the Race to the Top program.
"We should end it. We should end it," Daley said of the program, in which states vie for funding by promising various reforms. "They are just political slogans."

That sounds like Daley is speaking his mind now that he’s going to retire. And did you see in the news today that the Chicago police are picketing city hall to have Chief Jody Weis fired? That’s because he didn’t come up through the ranks. He’s an ex-FBI.

Daley is pissed cause he didn’t get a piece of the pie.
Daley probably has nothing to stick around for since O-bama blew the O-lympics.
The Daley machine spent Chicago’s revenue BIG to get the games and LOST BIG along with all of the individual “investors”(like Valerie Jarrett for one) who had bought MAJOR basically worthless property hoping to “flip-it” by selling it at a LARGE PROFFIT to the O-lympic folks to put housing and other things on.
Daley has nothing to stay for now. He would have been Mayor durring all the building and build up for the O-lympics with all the hype and publicity and national and international exposure that went with it. And who knows, maybe even a VP or POTUS run 1n 2016.
Now he just gets to watch the murder rate rise, the overblow city unions starting to grumble and crumble, and probably figures he’s not going to put up with O-bama’s crap anymore because he doesn’t have to anymore.
His “partnership” with him has run it’s course.
Better to watch it crash and burn from the family’s Grand Junction, Michigan compound across “The Lake”( which I have personally been to more than once).

Right. This was a competition, like some lottery where they get all these states to do what they want, in order to ENTER the lottery, but only one state ends up with money, and it went to the state where the democrats thought they needed the most help in November.
Now the losers are coming out saying it’s not fair and they should distribute the money around more.
