Karl Rove has hurt himself badly. I had just about forgotten that he was the “architect” of “comprehensive” amnesty, but once again it appears that he is “too clever by half” as the Brits like to say.

This point has probably been made by others, but there are no flies on Karl Rove. It wouldn’t surprise me a bit to find he did this on purpose to HELP O’Donnell. Yeah, I know it sounds weird.
The negatives on O’Donnell can’t last. By spotlighting them early, Rove has helped them be forgotten by late October. And Rove is a lightning rod of liberal hatred. I think he’s calculated and taken a shot that will ultimately do O’Donnell good in the long run. It’s a Hail Mary. What does he have to lose? Nothing. Ultimately I think people will look back on this and see that this was a turning point in Senator O’Donnell’s campaign.
And $1MM campaign contributions in one day can’t hurt!
