Five Reasons O'Donnell Could Win

Five Reasons O'Donnell Could Win —Ace

1. Coons could always self-implode. There is a small but nontrivial chance any politician will simply blow up. Odds are maybe 2% of that, but it's somethin'.

2. Coons isn't ideologically suited for Delaware himself. He's called a "bearded Marxist" -- he too may be too extreme for Delaware. Thus, we'd have a Republican too far to the right battling a Democrat too far to the left. Not great chances, but not an impossible longshot, either.

3. Coons may not be a great practical candidate, either. Mike Castle just wins elections -- until now -- so when he entered the race no more experienced Republican challenged him. And, I think, no serious Democrat rose to the challenge, either. Just Coons. (In fact, he was unopposed for the nomination -- apparently no one else wanted it, like O'Donnell versus Biden.) So he's not a superman, either.

4. O'Donnell could actually grow as a candidate. She's got a serious amount of work to do, and I don't know if she can do it. But until now she has been entirely on the defensive against attacks from within her party (which is something that has caused a lot of anger among her supporters). Now she's freed up from the constant defenses to do something besides all that. Will she rise? Probably. Enough? Probably not -- but who knows.

5. The Red Wave might even be bigger than we thought. Actually, I don't know about this one, because I was already thinking of an even bigger Red Wave than most people were and even my big Red Wave, in my mind at least, wasn't enough to do the trick. But with a little help from Coons, and a little help from herself... who knows.

If any mix of those above reasons pan out, the O'Donnell backers will look like geniuses, because there is no doubt, we will have traded a very light purple Castle for a very red O'Donnell. That will be some trick, a deep-red Senator in a blue state.

I don't think any of that will happen. That is why I have contended so hard against this, what I think is an emotion-based move.

But.

It could happen.

Take #2 and run with it, hard. O’Donnell and her supporters have to fight fiercely now to show that Coons is the more ‘extreme’ candidate - and the one who is extreme in all the wrong ways, as we’ve seen the last two years.

I think she’s going to win. People are going to say she’s a flake but I’m really ticked off that I don’t have a job and that my health premiums just jumped through the roof, so I’d rather have a flake who will work to get rid of 0-care et al than a member of the I-Think-I’m-Smart Set.

You are missing the complete program... This year is very different from the past - call it the Internet.

She will win and unlike others, won’t be indebted to the NRSC because they won’t support her. That alone will make her a star! As long as she supports the Conservative agenda, she will prevail.

Emotion-based? You bet! Silly us, being angry at a “Republican” who reaches out to his Marxist “friends” across the aisle enough times to get us closer to Socialism, albeit at a slower pace...

Or 6. The Republican turnout might be so high and the people of Delaware so sick of Obama's agenda, O'Donnell might win.

I saw this posted on another blog — good thought...

OK, Mr Silver Linings here... but something occurs to me.. This NRSC decision might be a positive.

First off, they deny O’Donnell the money, so the money goes elsewhere. That more money elsewhere is a good thing for elsewhere, so bully for them.

Then in Delaware.... well, O’Donnell is the outsiders outsider. This NRSC decision means she is all in, on being “out”. There is simply no question that she is 100% NON-establishment. That is probably the only real thing that will put her over the top in November, and this NRSC decision has now magnified it. She just needs to get some money from the grass roots, and come on.... it’s Delaware.

I don’t think this is all by plan, I think the NRSC is just running true to form. But I wonder if it could play out to her advantage, even inadvertantly.

You want an outsider, or you want biz as usual? They don’t come more outside than Christine O’Donnell, even the GOP establishment will tell you that...so..... the choice is yours and clear.

Might just work.

There is only one way to put this. Putting RINOS in is akin to putting a Democrat in. Washinton is long past due for mucking out.

Heh... Well, that is an unusual opinion. Sorry, but have to say that it says more about NRSC than it does about O’Donnell.

Of course, it may help other candidates, but the loss of funds from those that are angry with the NRSC and the loss of funds that WILL happen may be more than they expect.

Really, this is an utmost lost for the NRSC and the fact that they don’t realize that is really the major problem!

They are going anti-Tea Party and to their dismay, are going to lose!

Rebut every attempt to lable O’Donnel as an extremist: Those against her are all EXTREME anti-Constitutionalists! They have been running this country according to progressive doctrine for the past century, with the result that they have gradually, incrementally ruined the country and eaten up the seed corn.

Absolutely agree! It is now time to throw out all RHINOs at any cost. Hell with the NSRC or the media...and especially all those inside the Beltway that seem to still think that they know best (including Krauthammer who I admire (or at least use to))...

Delaware is a small state. IDK about Coons but if O'Donnell wages a grass roots door to door campaign and the rest of us teach the NRSC a lesson with our contributions from nationwide, then who is to say? What precedent is there to predict how the people will vote given an earnest enthusiastic alternative to the same ol' sh*t?

Here’s about 100 reasons:

http://www.ontheissues.org/House/Michael_Castle.htm

Castle voted to investigate George W. Bush. What the hell more does anyone need to know? I’d rather have a Democrat that we know will vote crap than this RINO who we kid ourselves into thinking won’t.

I’ve said that elsewhere, and suggest she actually make it into a commercial.

Meanwhile, if nothing else this will force the Democrats to spend money in Delaware that they probably weren’t going to do if it was Castle.

I think the people will vote for the Obama fighter over the Obama lover.

I don't give money often to candidates outside my state, but I will now, and I challenge other Freepers to do the same.

The critics in the Republican establishment who say she can't win, need to be proved dead wrong in November.

Right. What's different about this year is this -- people are waking up to the fact that WE HAVE AN EMERGENCY ON OUR HANDS -- A COMMIE IN THE WHITEHOUSE HELLBENT ON DESTROYING AMERICA -- and NOTHING less than a REAL American conservative WELL-grounded in what LIBERTY is all about can stand up to, and counter, all the collectivist b.s. in a way that no wishy-washy rino could ever even conceive of, let alone agree with.

Reason #6, Obama is going to campaign for Coons, which will be a boost for O’Donnell.

Disgust with Jimmy Carter helped Pete DuPont win the governorship of Delaware in 1980. And bear in mind that while many Delawareans vote Democrat, they tend to be much more conservative than Democrats in the surrounding states.
