I don’t think I would admit that in public!
It has always bugged me when reporting idiocies like this that a money amount is used, which is brushed off by the public as “someone else’s money”, i.e. generic taxpayer funds. I wish some prescient politician (any left?) would instead say, “The taxes of the residents of (any city in any state) were spent for . . .”. When you start personalizing the waste, people will, instead of shrugging, say, “HEY, wait a minute!” and start holding the spenders’ feet to the fire.
I hereby volunteer to go to Africa to teach female Africans how to wash their genitals.
We should be questioning why government stimulated itself instead of us.

This would be a great subject for Campaign ad about government waste. I want all my taxes I ever paid refunded if they can waste it like this.

Yes. This ultimately makes me angry. I work so hard and they take over 10% of my income just for 2 taxes, SS and Medical (don’t forget that employers double what we spend on Social Security, Medicaire and Medicaid). Then they do this.
