A new Fox News poll shows Republican Meg Whitman leading Democrat Jerry Brown by 6 percentage points in California's gubernatorial race, while the conservative news network's poll had Democratic Sen. Barbara Boxer leading her Republican challenger, Carly Fiorina, by 2 percentage points.
An interesting tidbit: Just 42 percent of Californians approve of Boxer's job performance, according to the Fox poll, while 50 percent disapprove. Still, Boxer drew 46 percent of the vote in her head-to-head match-up in Fiorina. That means that a small but significant number of California's don't like the job Boxer is doing but feel they'd rather have her continue to do the job than replace her with the former Hewlett-Packard CEO.
The poll of 1,000 likely voters, conducted for Fox by Pulse Opinion Research, has a margin of error of +/- 3 percentage points. That puts Boxer's lead within the margin of error, making the Senate race a statistical tie. Whitman's 49 percent to 43 percent lead is equal to the margin of error.
The survey found Californians in a surly mood. Sixty-four percent say the economy is in "poor" condition. Most don't believe President Obama's stimulus plan has helped the economy. And almost nobody thinks that Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's policies have helped the Golden State.

This is good for California, right?
“while the conservative news network’s poll”
So SF Chronicle, do you characterize your paper as the liberal newsrag in articles?
Not if babs boxer keeps her job.
This could be to our advantage considering Boxer shorts hasn’t hit 50%.
Babs new ad is awful.. she looks awful.. awful awful awful
I’ve pretty much tuned out all the ads.
IMO, all the choices are horrible.
LOL This one is brand new,, I’d sue the hair&makeup person
SEC Widens Probe of HP Bribery Allegations
Who didn't this BS coming? Slimey as hell; vintage Boxer.
Boxer is below 50% with 100% name recognition. She is toast. It is all over but the crying.
If she goes down in this cycle, and more and more CA cities go BK to eliminate their pension obligations. CA could be in play during the presidential elections for the first time in a generation.
In Dimwit parlance that means Whitman barely has a lead while Boxer will apparently win in a landslide.
I can’t believe that 72 year old Jerry Brown is the Democrat nominee for governor.
In a Democrat leaning state, all ambitious Democrat politicians stepped aside and let Brown have the nomination in an unchallenged primary election. There were no other serious Democrat candidates on the ballot.
What does it say about California Democrats, that the best they could do for the highest office is a tired old re-tread like Jerry Brown? Just think about it — a Democrat leaning state, whose governors and Senators are usually nationally known, drew no serious candidates for the governor’s office.
Exactly. If you figure the Chron's bias is worth 2 points in the other direction, Whitman beats Moonbeam like the old rented mule that he is, and Fiorina squeaks by Madame Butterface in a nail-biter.
LOL. Sometimes you just have so little to work with. ;-)
Is this the one?

Barbara Boxer TV Ad: “Made in America”
I haven’t regretted discontinuing my television cable service, considering all the B.S. I’m missing out on... though I’m still subjected to California Teachers Association propaganda on my local conservative talk radio station.
