The graffiti is largely gone from the NYC subway system, for two reasons: (1) almost all surfaces are now graffiti-resistant (ceramic tile, painted metal, bonded polymer car coatings) and (2) no one puts any effort into serious wild-style graffiti anymore. Rammellzee, Dondi and Iz are dead, and they have no disciples.
The scene was basically dead by 1990.
