That’s what he’s saying. The 166 Republicans who voted AGAINST this thing were the dummies.

Mike Castle, mighty, mighty Mike Castle, was all knowing and all wise.

As the commenter pees upon our feet and tells us it’s raining.

Heh.

No, he’s saying that it was a procedural vote, for which nobody posting here has ANY idea what the leadership advised to the individual members.

What we DO know is that the vote was considered a failure for the impeachment crowd, until the left decided to spin it as a GOOD thing that the bill was being dumped into a committee where it would die.

But you’d have to go back and read the actual news stories of the time to see exactly what the maneuvering was, and how many votes were swung back and forth.

It is for example quite possible that this bill was put out for a vote on the floor of the house. The Republicans found they had enough democrats to dump it into committee.

Pelosi found this out as well, and realised it would be a disaster for her base they had a majority vote against impeachment.

So she told her caucus to vote FOR the move to committee, and they’d spin it as a vote FOR the impeachment. Then, the republican leadership told all it’s members to vote no except the 24 they needed to help push it to the committee.

If Pelosi had switched votes, the republicans would have done so again.

The falseness of this allegation is seen by how it was originally categorized as “Castle voted for Bush Impeachment”.

Because what he voted FOR was to move the bill to committee. A move to a committee is NOT a vote on the bill. Saying that a vote to move a bill to the committee is the same as a vote on the bill is a false, misleading attack.

Which is OK, people don’t always know the truth — but watching people DEFEND the lie is always painful. At least most people have come around to just pushing the equally false claim that Castle voted to move it to committee because he SUPPORTED IT, when contemporaneous reporting shows that he opposed it, and further knew of no valid reasons for impeachment.

As I’ve said before, there are certainly enough things Castle actually did to criticise, without making up stuff. At least the attacks on O’Donnell involve actual things she said.
