The Time to Fight is a Time to Flee (Pruden)
The Washington Times ^ | 9/13/2010 | Wes Pruden

Here we go again. Republicans just can't help acting like Republicans. Surrender first, fight later, but only if absolutely necessary. It's in their DNA. They're only comfortable playing also-rans, perennial scrubs, running under their traditional mantra: "Vote for us; we're bad, but not as bad as you think."

The Democrats haven't been on the run like this in a generation, maybe two, but instead of pursuing his advantage, the man most likely to be the speaker if the Republicans take over the House is already talking compromise on taxes, the one issue that unites independents and party regulars.

Rep. John A. Boehner, who has seen some big crowds in some big towns and was inspired to talk some big talk, meekly retreated Sunday after a week of hearing himself criticized — mildly, given the givens — by President Obama. He says he's willing at last to support the president's proposal to begin the dismantling of the George W. Bush tax cuts. Those cuts expire this year unless they are extended by Congress.

"We welcome John Boehner's change in position," said Robert Gibbs, the president's press secretary. But he said the White House was not impressed by Mr. Boehner's resolve, and the president obviously expects further evidence of Republican eagerness to throw in the white towel. Mr. Boehner can expect the White House to continue snapping at his ankles.

The Republican elites have no taste for tea, not even of the mildest Ladies' Fruitberry Herbal variety. The elites have been rattled by the Tea Party revolt, not sure what it means, nor whether and how it can be controlled (or, preferably, becalmed). Instead Mr. Boehner and his timid fellows think the revolt against Barack Obama and his radical agenda is all their doing.

FWIW. Pruden's take on the words Boehner's used may be harsh, but hard to argue with given the past performance of the Pubbie leaders. Boehner has just made McConnell look tough by comparison. Now that's quite a feat.

Wonder if they want to get control. They are pretty comfortable getting their share of the Loot and getting to blame the Crats.

More idiocy from the Never been anything Conservative screaming clown posse in the junk media.

The Democrats were all ready to run against Bohner and the GOP as “only wanting tax cuts for the wealthy”. He totally disrupted their campaign game plan.

This is the sort of “logic” that results in the Conservatives getting their asses kicked on issue after issue.

Tactics in politics is as important as it is in combat. “Stand or Die” orders may make the macho boy choir heart beat faster, it is stupid as a tactical plan.

Boehner was majority leader when the Repubs controlled the House under George the Last. He did absolutely NOTHING to advance conservatism or roll back government.

Republicans never learn that Democrats are junk yard dogs.
The purebreds do not have a chance in the fight.

Boehner screwed up just by mentioning willingness to accept a compromise is how I see it. The negotiation, the fight for the tax renewal isn’t over yet to be talking about accepting something that is still being fought over. That isn’t a good leadership quality to display.

Wonder if they want to get control.

Seems crystal clear to me that Republican establishment country clubbers are completely content to stay in the minority. I think that is one of the reasons why they are becoming increasingly upset with all the new blood popping up around them. They might actually find themselves in the leadership and that would mess up their tee times and social calendars....

U got it. They are sitting fat right now. Why would they want to be blamed for this mess by getting control. It may become a race to lose. They can get two more years of Loot with no responsibility. If they win then they would be blamed.

To paraphrase another Freeper, “We Suck Less” is not a winning campaign slogan.

5 out of 6 of the TV networks have Saudi ownership and joint ventures. The TV newsmedia will bash Repubs no matter what. Obama this past week with his Saudi/Lib TV stooges went full bore after Boehner.

Keep watching TV folks. I blame the public as much as the GOP.

---------------------------------

From Pruden:

Obama is putting his full attention to spinning the coming Obama tax increase
as a tax cut.
"Let me be clear to Mr. Boehner and everyone else," the president says.
"We should not hold middle-class tax cuts hostage any longer."

The Administration will confiscate more of the business wealth and politically redistribute it, embracing social engineering to steer it 'fairly' into the waiting pockets of appreciative voters.

Batten down the hatches! Taxes a plenty next year.

So with increases in income tax, capital gains tax, dividends tax, death taxes and other kinds of taxes set to kick in by the end of this year, businesses are not just on hold, they are hunkered down to weather the storm.

When the economy realizes some growth again, those waiting to get rehired as managers and engineers start to find they have to work two jobs as cashiers and janitors.

CLUELESS-222 Businesses provide jobs, they take the risks. How dare they make a profit! When you put Marxists in charge of the country, this is what you get: Government bleeding the private sector and spending your grandchildren's paycheck.

Not so fast.
The leadership is elected.
The new breed of Republican is pushinig out the old.
The Tea Party has moved the Party to the right.
Boehner just stepped on himself.
He may not win the leadership role.
I predict a major fight for leadership will ensue right after the election.

Amen...soon as we remove the Snowe-Collins-Jeffords-McCain-Crist wing from Republican party we can then start to save the country.

If we cant remove them, we will need to remove the Republican party. Either the rinos go and the Nation and the Republican party survives or we Remove the republican party to save the nation..
