I suspect that setting the basis of an impeachment hearing and pulling the fangs of this administration may be what is in the works.

I doubt that Fine will be allowed to proceed. I suspect that he will carefully document the obstructions placed before him prior to his dismissal; ala, Walpin’s dismissal. Such an act, along with the DOJ actions relative to Arizona SB1070, including lack of enforcement of existing Federal laws, would give plenty of grist to impeachment proceedings.

Having lived through two presidential impeachments, I think you need two things to successfully impeach a president.

1) Proof of commission of high crimes or misdemeanors. We have that here.

2) An extremely unpopular president. After the crimes are revealed and proved, we will have this aspect also.
