O'Donnell Surges to Lead Over Castle in New Poll
RCP ^ | 9/13/10 | Scott Conroy

Conservative activist Christine O'Donnell holds a 47 percent to 44 percent lead over establishment favorite Rep. Mike Castle in Tuesday's Delaware GOP Senate primary, according to a new Public Policy Polling (PPP) survey released on Sunday.

O'Donnell's lead among 668 likely Delaware Republican primary voters was within the poll's margin of error, but if she were able to defeat Castle on Tuesday, it would mark another extraordinary upset for a tea party-backed candidate in a GOP Senate primary.

On Thursday, O'Donnell picked up former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin's endorsement, and Palin has recorded a robocall on O'Donnell's behalf. The new PPP poll was conducted after Palin endorsed O'Donnell.

Palin's last-minute push on behalf of Fairbanks attorney Joe Miller proved critical in Miller's shocking victory over incumbent Sen. Lisa Murkowski in last month's Republican primary in Alaska.

O'Donnell's winning the primary would carry benefits that extend considerably further than the outcome of the primary or general elections.

Exactly, this race is not hapening in a vacuum. Taken inn a year with the defeats of Crist, Merkowski and Bennett, the defeat of Castle might convince many in the GOP establishment that backing RINOs will not lead to easy victories. Even when the RINOs won, like in Arizona with McCain, they faced ugly primaries. If backing RINOs becomes a bad career move the career politicians in DC will avoid the RINOs like the plague.

The temptation for a conservative to become a RINO is very real. The press will love you and you will be on all the talk shows. You can get lots of money from Soros and co. What we need to show is that if you sell out you will get primaried, every time. And even if you win you will come through battered and broke, only to lose to the dem in the general. Only when that becomes the conventional thinking will we be able to put the NO in RINO.

RINOs don’t act on core beliefs. They act on what they percieve is politically expedient. If they “automatically” end up with challenge from the right when they vote with the liberals they will stop voting with the liberals out of thier perception of political risk. It’s worth it, win or lose in the primaries to ALWAYS, every 2 years, put up conservative challengers.

I hope the tea party activism survives “victory” because political expediency certainly will.

That is a shame. I saw her on Fox this AM and she handed the dummie McCollum her empty head.

O’Donnell took on the RNC establishment. Since when does being a Repub mean you give up your Constitutional Rights?
She had every right to sue.

I think she should have taken her fight to the electorate as she is doing now. Time for RINOs to go. Why do you think she is up in the polls now? The Rinos arwe in full stampede, but will not work.

Mike Castle's defeat should be should be seen as necessary "pour encourager les autres".

You asked, "Okay so what primaries are tomorrow.... Delaware, NH, NY???" Y

You can add Wisconsin to your list.

Read up on Precious’ beloved RINO when you get a chance.

Try reading up on the poll you are touting.

Ayotte leads Lamontagne 38-37 among Tea Party voters.

So your Tea Party guy (who gets an "F" from NH Firearms Coalition, who was not supported by one Pro Life group) doesn't even win the Tea Party vote.

Boottomline: I live in NH. I know Kelly. I have met her and her husband (an Iraq War combat pilot). You have not. And it's unfair for outsiders to lump Ayotte in with Castle and Murkowski. And dismiss Ovide's past (Mitt supporter, Gun Control freak...).

You can’t clear a contaminated pond by taking water out of one side of it and dumping it back in on the other side. As others have said before, this election is but a step in the process unless that is you are one of those instant karma types (and we know how well that works out).

Simply put, all I can say to you is that Forrest Gump said it best in what his Mama always told him.

pour encourager les autres

A perfect example. The Royal Navy had become very timid and the admirals all were hiding behind the "Permanent Fighting Instructions" to avoid getting into decisive fights with the French. The theory was that they would not be punished for an inconclusive fight, but if they took risks they would be punished. When they learned that admirals who did not "Do their utmost" to engage the enemy would be sent before a firing squad attitudes changed. If they were going to die either way they may as well go out a hero.

A similar attitude must be fostered in the minds of GOP elected officials. Fight Obama, and fight all out. If you fight hard you may have a tough fight in the general. If you sell out you are guaranteed to have a tough fight in the primary and the general.

Well stated. Pissant doesn't live in our state, and seems to have a real hatred of Kelly. I nearly suckered into the Ovid side, but the actions of the Union Leader and the ravings of Pissant woke me up.

I will be voting for Kelly tomorrow, here in Amherst.

She will be poster child for the GOP a.k.a “tea party” media will make sure of this. Listen to her on radio and how she answers. She will not only lose Moderate/liberal Deleware, but be a weight on the brand of GOP and Tea Party. Listen to her radio interview and then give me your thoughts. I want to win. Losing to commies is the greatest consequence. She is not the “real deal” she is weak. She was testy, unresponsive, “lied” flippantly on stupid things.

I want to win.

What are you running for? If you don't think she is a perfect enough conservative, why is your hat not in the race?

What is it you want to win? Is that why you voted for the big zero? Is winning that important to you? Tell you what, I want to buy your vote. I'll give you the putz of the year tropjy. I won it fair and square and is mine to give to anyone I think deserving.

Look. Listen to her http://www.wgmd.com/?p=9496 . On issues she is Conservative, but she is not a prime time person. Listen to her. She lies and sounds terrible in this interview. The questions were easy and she comes off as terrible. She will never win. You don’t need to call me a putz. I didn’t attack you. You can attack my thoughts and judgement, but lets not get personal.

I wasn't attacking you. I was making a little fun. If you don't want the trophy, fine, I'll keep it. I earned it.

But I will never vote for a Rino again. If it's the devil against a Rino, the devil will get my vote. If you do not think there is a candidate in the race worthy of your vote, write in who you would prefer. Voting for the lesser of two evils is still voting for evil.
