Please read my posts #21, 22 and 52 in this very thread. As I have written ad nauseum, I do not believe for one second that Delaware can’t elect a conservative to the U.S. Senate. However, I do believe that, irrespective of how conservative or cute Christine O’Donnell may be, the fact that she’s proven to be an unqualified, irresponsible, dishonest gadfly means that she has absolutely no chance of winning the general election running as a Republican in Delaware.

Regarding the specific issue of abortion, please read my tag line. Castle is pro-abortion, and I wouldn’t trust him as far as I can throw him. And as I have said repeatedly, I would have supported any qualified, responsible, honest conservative who ran against Castle. Unfortunately, none did. And if I have to choose between Castle in the Senate and Jeff Sessions as Chairman of Judiciary or Coons in the Senate and Pat Leahy as Chairman of Judiciary, I’ll choose Castle and Sessions. If you care about ending abortion, you should support a candidate whose mere election may place Sessions in the Chairmanship of the Judiciary Committee (Castle could indeed be the 10th Republican pickup in the Senate), where judicial confirmation hearings will be held, over a candidate whose nomination will result in the Democrats holding the seat and most likely having the pro-abortion Leahy keep the Judiciary Chairmanship.

Several people answered my question... thanks to you all.

There is a range of opinion on this issue here in FR and it’s a tough question.

Whether or not to go with a 50-50 R who can win in Nov or a somewhat flaky personality who is, seemingly, a conservative but who will have less of a chance in Nov.

After reading the opinions and thinking about it, I have to say I would vote against Castle if I lived in DE.

50-50 isn’t good enough.

And even if we lose to a dem in Nov, at least we will have shown the CLOWNS in the rnc that they are not the boss of us anymore.

For that reason, I would reluctantly vote for the flaky conservative.

O’Donnell can’t win not because she’s conservative, but because she’s an irresponsible, dishonest gadfly with no prior accomplishments.

Really. I'm willing to bet you never even MET the woman, because if you have, you wouldn't be slinging that mud. We've been hearing that garbage all week from Castle's dirty-moat campaign hacks. You sound just like them.

It's better to have control over the committees and rules of the House and Senate.

Sorry. Tried that from 1994-2006. The result was diddly-squat done in 12 years with "conservatives" like Bush, Trent Lott, and Denny Hastert at the helm. And thanks to them, we now have Democrats in full control, an out-and-out America-hating marxist in the White House, and $13 Trillion in new debt.

The electability argument is over. Conservatives must never again sacrifice our values for the so-called electability of a liberal Republican. It's better to vote 3rd party.
