LOVELAND - Fire officials are telling residents near Flatiron Reservoir and Carter Lake to leave their homes and evacuate to Loveland in northern Colorado because of a 30-acre wildfire.

9news is streaming live video from the fire. All air support from the Fourmile Fire has been shifted to this fire. Thankfully low winds today, but low humidity, warm temps seem to be making this fire grow.

Me and the wife were watching this from Longmont. The water bombers are going at it hot and heavy, lucky they just happened to be in the area. My boss lives up there and I haven’t been able to get him on the phone.
Do you happen to have a Colorado ping list?
9news showed the helicopters trying to save a little A-frame, someone’s getaway home. The smoke covered the view for awhile, once it cleared, the little A-frame was completely engulfed in flames. It probably took all of 15 minutes for the fire to come over the top of the ridge and take over that home.
They are trying to make a stand on that road by the reservoir. It has hopped that road a couple of times now.
The other 2 heavy tankers must be on mandatory stand-down for pilot rest. I’ve only seen two doing runs.
Here’s hoping the winds stay light.

All those dead Lodge Pole Pines that the EnviroNatzis wouldn’t allow to be cleared (and then the area replanted) is providing great fuel and almost impossible to stop if the winds come up!
Thanks for the link. geez, bad fire season.
It’s 7:40 and I haven’t seen the bombers for an hour or so. I think it may be contained.
I have a good friend who lives just south of Carter Lake in the evacuation area.
Latest update:
600-700 acres burned. Crews stay on scene overnight, including 2-3 hotshot crews, aggressive fighting in AM, 6 hotshot crews. Looks like they have held it at that road, farthest west is that damn.
No updates on destroyed buildings, 1 home, 1 rv, 4 outbuildings.
“Fire far from controlled at this point.”
damn = dam
The fire is expanding north & elsewhere and the operations are waiting for the gas & electric to be shut off .
Not good, if you are familiar with that area.
Nothing is contained.
Unknown number of structures already lost.
The media is anxious for a PIO.
I am surprised Grand County hasn't burned. I went through Grandby to Parshall yesterday; the whole county is dead evergreens (beetle kill).
There are many areas just waiting for a spark.
It will be ugly.
As fast as these two recent fires have moved, it could be real ugly. They are not beetle kill areas AFAIK.
