Obama quoting Lincoln in Ohio

Yeah, um, let’s read the quote in context .....

(Excerpt) Read more at . ...

TOPICS: Culture/Society; Government; Miscellaneous; News/Current Events
KEYWORDS: obamaohiolies
I'm assuming that this is the quote he is referring to:

Quote: The legitimate object of government, is to do for a community of people, whatever they need to have done, but can not do, at all, or can not, so well do, for themselves in their separate, and individual capacities. In all that the people can individually do as well for themselves, government ought not to interfere. The desirable things which the individuals of a people can not do, or can not well do, for themselves, fall into two classes: those which have relation to wrongs, and those which have not. Each of these branch off into an infinite variety of subdivisions. The first that in relation to wrongs embraces all crimes, misdemeanors, and nonperformance of contracts. The other embraces all which, in its nature, and without wrong, requires combined action, as public roads and highways, public schools, charities, pauperism, orphanage, estates of the deceased, and the machinery of government itself. From this it appears that if all men were just, there still would be some, though not so much, need for government.

-Abraham Lincoln

Sorry, these are the words of obamination

“But in the words of the first Republican President, Abraham Lincoln, I also believe that government should do for the people what they cannot do better for themselves.”

Lincoln was a White Republican I am confused why a Kenyan national socialist would quote him.

I’m not sure, with the obamation’s educational background, that he even knows who Lincoln was, or what he looked like outside of the statue in DC.

More relevantly, Lincoln was a competent president for the Union although he was not too popular with Confeds.

When’s Zero gonna quote this one?

” My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that.”

Here’s the one I want to hear a politician say:

” My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy cradle to grave welfare. If I could save the Union without destroying cradle to grave welfare I would do it, and if I could save it by destroying cradle to grave welfare I would do it; and if I could save it by destroying if for some and leaving others alone I would also do that.”

More relevantly, Lincoln was a competent president for the Union although he was not too popular with Confeds.

Even more relevant, Lincoln was a Republican and the Democrats were running against him on a platform that the war must be ended immediately, and Foreign mediation accepted as to the nature of the dissolution of America.
