Have you hired a plumber, or electrician, or guy to retile your shower, or landscaper lately? At close to $100 per hour, unskilled labor is earning more than most college educated people these days. (Yes I know there's a little skill involved in these jobs, but they don't spend anywhere near the time or money to go into those fields that a college attendee pays.) Many of the tradesmen aren't even high school graduates. I've seen some where it appears the class dummy is out-earning the "most likely to succeed."

In addition, many kids are not motivated or smart enough to be college material. As long as mom and dad pays, it's party time. Add to that the preferred minorities taking up seat that should be going to qualified MOTIVATED students who aren't the right color. Many college degrees today aren't woth the paper they're written on.

Quite frankly, I would think long and hard about sending a kid to college these days. I know many pafrents who are sick about sending off their precious progeny only to get back a flaming Lib with no saleable skills, and they paid out their life savings to have their kid brain-washed..

a little skill? Jobs that require only a little skill are usually done by the homeowner. These are not unskilled labor occupations.

Rare to find those guys who are pocketing what their shop charges. Yeah, shops charge $75-$100/ hr but often $50-$75 of that is overhead.

I was school, school, school! My son wanted the Military, his girlfriend and I haunted him, telling him to go to school first and then the military. Personally, I wanted he to buy some time so he wouldn’t have to serve under Obama. Anyway, he was miserable! Didn’t even make a semester, joined the Army, he is a “grunt” with the 25th ID and loves it!!!

Now it looks like his brother is going the same route. A

I have learned, as long as they are looking to do something that will move them forward in life, I will support it. School immediately after HS isn’t for everyone.
