Go ahead and protest Islam by burning Korans or any other thing that is your property at Ground Zero if that floats your boat. Have a grand old time. But don’t call this the face of Christianity because it isn’t.

What you advocate -- rolling over and indulging the egotistic vanity of "being civil" and better than others -- betrays the face of Christianity. Indeed, the peaceful, bloodless burning of Korans, the non-lethal, non-violent purely symbolic and necessary warning to Muslims not to cross this line, is INDEED the very face of Christianity.

Going out into the streets and murdering Muslims wholesale, burning them alive or beheading them as they live, THAT would be betraying the face of Christianity. Burning Korans NOW may very well save bloodshed later. I suggest you rethink your take on what the face of Christianity looks like.

Unless their congregations were in danger of falling into doctrines of Islam, or had fallen into them but now were repudiating it, I must most respectfully beg to disagree with you about whether this is appropriate for churches to do. It isn’t Christianity which goes out to pick fights that are peripheral to salvation of souls. You have to look to certain other religions for that.
