I am black. Scarcely a day goes by that I don't read something racist or anti-black on this site. But I will never leave because of it. I stay because I am determined to defeat that cause. I even had one FReeper say my mother commits sex acts in public, albeit with more colorful language. While that was no doubt a violation of the rules of FR, I did not seek his banishment nor did I leave FR.
Toughen up. Until they attack your mother you've faced nothing.
The long work hours, the intense heat, the occasional scare, fighting typhoid most of the summer...no problem.
It's not a lack of toughness; it's too little free time and not wanting to waste it with the dregs who have appeared on here of late.
I do not wish discourse with people who can't comprehend a simple sentence and use unprovoked insults to cover for their lack of intelligence.
What the hell am I going to accomplish for the "cause" by putting up with the vermin that has been sliding around here the past week?

I would be happy to. If I'd seen it I would have at the time. I'm so sorry that there are a-holes like that on this site. There is a kind of Gresham's Law of Internet message boards--bad posters drive out the good--and decent people have to wage a constant fight against it.
Good for you...you have great stamina and courage....You remind me of a police officer who has a loaded gun in his holster and knows he can take his opponet down...but he refrains...that is true strength of character.. It takes more courage and fortitude to not fire than it does to fire.
However there is a time and place when most appropriate...I trust you have that good judgement as well. Despite the mis-judgements of others.
We do have a very thin-skinned society who does not know how to withstand what surely will come in time...and they will roll for that....
