ATLANTA -- A former Atlanta police officer will spend five years in prison for drawing his gun and threatening a man over a cell phone.

Killroy F. Jackson, 35, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and terroristic threat charges related to the January 2010 attack. Prosecutors say Deandre Stafford and his girlfriend, T Miya Hayward, were arguing about a cell phone outside a Jonesboro Road home. Hayward claimed Stafford took the phone from her and refused to return it.

Hayward then left the scene and called Jackson, who returned to the location of the argument, according to police. Jackson, who was off duty at the time, then slammed Stafford against the wall, put a gun to his head and threatened to kill him or lock him up, according to witnesses.

Hayward gave up the cell phone and Jackson left, but several witnesses called 911 in the process according to the police report. Fulton County Superior Court Judge Shawn LaGrua sentenced Jackson to five years in prison and 10 years probation, along with 200 hours of community service.

Hayward then left the scene and called Jackson

She didn't call the PD but Jackson personally? Personal friends?

Three posts negative to police all within a few minutes. A quick peek at all your posts shows the same pattern.
How long have you been a cop hater?
How many years were you in jail, despite the fact "you were innocent?"

"How long have you been a cop hater"

Terminology please. Government unionist thugs. Cops are people we used to hire to protect us.

Your not from around here are you? When cops become the criminals and violate the Oaths they have taken... they get no sympathy on FR.

When LEO's police their own before policing others, then they will get they respect they want... just sayin

... and let me save you the trouble before you go on to the typical "us against them" rants... no we are not cop haters, just citizens that are fed up with the double standards.

Some people have an addiction to boot polish. It's a lifestyle thing you should be more tolerant.

To the Admin Moderator,

If you have something to say then say it, like an adult in a post/reply to the thread, stop this childish temper tantrum of changing my titles.

You probably shouldn’t give him too hard a time.
Let me tell you a little story that happened to me personally.
I was at a social event, cleaning my gun, and it “concerned” some people; though when asked by someone I respect I did acquiesce and store it in my vehicle. Later that day, or perhaps the following day, several of the leaders of the group had a meeting about which I was the subject and they called my National Guard unit... after this, as the rumor spiraling got ever bigger, it became that I was “at my house waving around my gun and making people feel scared” when someone called the police with this story.

I happened to be with a friend in the morning when my mom called me and said “don’t go home.” {I live next door to my parents.} It turns out that the police had, on the third day after this social-gathering, gone to my house and were looking for me because of the report they’d heard. This is understandable, but what is most disturbing is the following:
— The officers came on-scene with weapons drawn. *** BIG WARNING FLAG *** - That is itself a HUGE escalation of force.
— The officer my mother asked “what’s are you doing?” to [he was looking inside her van] only replied with a question as to if I was there.
— The officer my mother talked to did not identify himself at all.
— The officers, all of them, had no warrant.
— The Police Department did not reprimand any officer for their conduct.

When things got sorted out I went home and talked for about an hour with a Sergeant who I happen to know; and after hearing what was up said that nothing I had done was illegal. (He also said to my mother, that he was impressed with the amount of respect I showed her when I came home.)

In all, I’m glad I wasn’t there when they arrived; that kind of behavior could get someone shot. And to be technically correct (and legalistic) I would have been in the right had it been me shooting police officers. Because my State Constitution says:
Art II, Sec. 4. [Inherent rights.]
All persons are born equally free, and have certain natural, inherent and inalienable rights, among which are the rights of *enjoying and defending life* and liberty, of acquiring, possessing and *protecting property*, and of *seeking and obtaining safety* and happiness.

Remember, they had no warrant.
Warrant *ARE* the protection not only of citizens from officials, but of/for officials in execution of their duties; they are the proof that some official is not abusing power. (Somewhat akin to orders for military personnel.)
