So boo freakin' hoo to the handful of Afghan savages we killed. Who gives a crap.

There are many Freepers who are current and former members of the Armed Forces. I have seen a lot of them post in these threads, that they DO care, and would like to see justice meted out in these cases.

Agreed, but they never should have had their hands tied in the first place. For 60 years now, we have been fighting Liberal don't go all the way wars. You fight a war to win.
In the end it saves enemy lives as well, because the war doesn't drag on. In my own opinion, this is one of the things that a restored America will get back to.

Well there is this
6/19/10
Pfc. Andrew Holmes of Boise will remain in U.S. Army custody for at least the immediate future, his family said in a release Saturday.

Holmes is charged with murdering an Afghan civilian near the base where he was stationed in Afghanistan’s Kandahar Province. He’s accused of throwing a grenade and shooting the civilian.

A magistrate ruled Holmes will remain in custody until his Article 32 hearing, the military equivalent of a grand jury

More HERE

I checked to see if any of our JBER guys had any charges pending, found none...

I so agree...

Its called “YOU SURRENDER. I WIN.”....ON the streets its”Say Uncle.” In war, the generals and head honchos accept the DEFEATED enemies SIGNATURE ON SURRENDER PAPERS...Full court Press.

And the winners Occupy defeated territory till we have it up and running in decent form.

I am really doubting this whole insurrgency deal...Even in VN if we hadn’t had our hands tied, it would have been a WWII redo. then we wouldn’t have had to “figure out and create another way to wage war without any winners and losers.”

IT IS TIME TO LEAVE. !! In war you kill people— Dresden was fire bombed — 300.000 men women and children — 50,000 in okinawa— 70,000 in nagisaki— 50k in Hiroshima. You have to kill people and destroy their stuff or just get the hell OUT!!

This comment willfully misunderstands the problem. In World War II, we were fighting the extant armed forces of a nation state in control of vast swaths of territory. The nation-state in question (Germany or Japan) was the explicit target to wear down its resources for the express purpose of defeating its armed forces.

It's an entirely different proposition when you occupy a country that is headed by a government you installed, are propping up, or otherwise facilitating restoration of. Your target is no longer the nation-state and its armed forces, which in fact are your allies to some degree or another. You don't get to just go on indiscriminate, mass killing sprees unless you're willing to admit that, yes, we are the Nazis.

I fought in one of those kind of wars. We weren't the SS then, we're not the SS now, and that's because the majority of us understand basic moral ethics, even in a war zone.

Now if your proposition is that you disagree with getting embroiled in guerrilla wars in the first place, that at least has intellectual coherence. Guerrilla wars are messy by definition, and invariably put more difficult behavioral constraints on the troops engaged.

"One other thing: if this story had validity, you'd think it would be splashed all over the NYT, CNN, WaPo, Huffpo and the rest of the liberal media, just like Abu Gharib and the Koran in the Guantanomo toilet."

These events are alleged to have happened just this past spring - on Obama's watch. I suspect that is the reason the MSM is running silent, running deep. Can't embarrass Obama, can we?

I read it, great book, that is one case. There are a lot of other cases that back me up. Read another book “A Journal of the disaters in Afghanistan”, by Lady Sale Florentina.

Apples, meet oranges. We aren't talking about collateral damage casualties. We're talking about the intentional targeting and murdering of individual civilians.

That has not been proven. And the Pentagon has targed our fighting men in error too many times over the past 18 months alone.

Having evil-clowns running around executing innocent locals (if the story is actually true) unnecessarily makes all of our lives vastly more difficult.

Exactly...IF true. Was Haditha true? Were the SEALs criminals? This has not been proven. And the Pentagon has targed our fighting men in error too many times over the past 18 months alone. I am sick of it.

"That has not been proven."

Right, that's what the trial is for. But, that doesn't make your analogy any less spurious than it is.

I held two fundraisers for the Navy SEAL Three in Nov '09 and Feb '10. The Navy went balls to the wall against those fine men. they indicted them over Thanksgiving and put them through hell over Christmas. It was disgusting. So I don't really give a shit what the Pentagon brass says about what THESE guys supposedly did. Let's wait for the FACTS. Until them I assume they are being railroaded to prop up McCrystal's disgraceful ROEs, until proven otherwise.

So far all but one of the accused in the Haditha case has been exonerated. SSgt Frank Wuterich, the squad leader, has been waiting for his day in court for almost 5 years, during which the Marines recently forced his Military Lawyers to retire, while keeping the prosecution paid and qualified for a full pension.

The court date has been again postponed due to one of the prosecution team suffering an injury playing with his son.

Lt Colonel Chessani had his charges dismissed when the Court found he was a victim of Unlawful Command Influence by 4 star (3 at the time) General Mattis.

I could go on for awhile, but it's best to look up defendourmarines.com for the full stories.

The government hasn't been playing square for a very long time.

"So far all but one of the accused in the Haditha case has been exonerated."

And so far, there have been DOZENS of other convictions of service members who engaged in criminal activity while deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq. What's your point?

The government alleges, trial courts hear, juries decide. Just because one case is troubled, doesn't mean all cases are troubled, right?

Should we also believe Sgt. Hasan Akbar's case is defective because the government has had UCI problems in another unrelated case, the Haditha case? Probably not, right? But, this is PRECISELY the argument you're making about this case.

Cases succeed or fail on their own merits. It's that simple. These men are presumed innocent, and will be judged by a jury of their peers.

My comment earlier was a reminder of historical FACT - There were PLENTY of US service members who were tried, convicted and hanged until death during WWII. The abuse and murder of civilians in combat zones is not a new phenomenon. We shouldn't be surprised when it happens, and we certainly shouldn't be surprised when the government prosecutes vigorously.

I am a future member of the Armed Forces and am hesitant to believe that this is exactly how things went down. I tend to give benefit of the doubt to our soldiers. However, if it can be proven that the charges are factual and no spin for liberalism has occurred, I want to see this handled in an honorable and just manner.

Though I reiterate that I am always skeptical when I see something like this.

Yeah, since nobody expected such things. /s

Still not an excuse for unauthorized killing.
