The author cites a swing in VA between ‘08 and ‘09. I have a theory about that that may or may not be tin foil.

ACORN and the Obama campaign did very aggressive recruiting on college campuses in VA in ‘08. I contend they were able to persuade students at those VA colleges whose homes are in NY/NJ or anywhere in New England to switch their registration(s) to VA. Their votes wouldn’t have mattered for squat in MA, but would make a difference in VA .. and DID.

To this day, I contend Obama did NOT carry VA in ‘08 among true VA residents and voters. Alas, those states North of here (from which I moved to VA decades ago myself), send too damned many of their kids to our colleges. And those kids were all too willing to register and vote here to get Obama to turn VA blue.

I have another theory.

McCain was really that bad!

Very funny, except ... voter registrations in VA counties hosting colleges with significant numbers of out of state students skyrocketed in ‘08. It had NOTHING to do with the R candidate, and EVERYTHING to do with the D candidate, and those working for his election, such as ACORN who recruited heavily on those campuses.

The R’s in the state tried to enforce the laws, but the state’s electoral board was under the control of the then-governor, and current DNC chair, Tim Kaine.

And, many actual Virginians may not have so much liked McCain as they adored his running mate. Then, again, VA has a massive USN presence in Tidewater, and McCain would be generally well-received there.

It is more than coincidental that VA went Dem for the first time since 1964. And I for one don’t much appreciate out of state students registering and voting here, in violation of our Commonwealth’s laws.

My apologies - I was just kidding.

Vote fraud is rampant but inexcusable, IMO.

Elected officials that fail to enforce the law fairly and objectively have no business holding office.

No apology is necessary, I knew you were kidding. Grain of truth notwithstanding.

I just resent to my very core the way our nation’s hard-won freedom is being used against us in so many ways. Not only by terrorists, but by the left who will do ‘whatever it takes’ to achieve a win.

As a transplant myself to VA, and observing what went on here (and, I would wager, in NC) to throw those 2 red states into the blue column just makes me sick.

Hopefully, at the end of the proverbial day, the win they achieved in ‘08 will have the same effect as installing Carter in ‘77. Unfortunately, there’s no Reagan out there in the wings.
