“Pastor Terry Jones of Gainesville, Florida, plans to publicly burn a copy of the Koran on September 11. The timing coordinates with the ninth anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon, and the present controversy over the proposed mosque near Ground Zero.
His church is small, about 50 members, but named the Dove World Outreach Center. He believes this is the right thing to do, posting ten reasons on his website, and having written a book called “Islam Is of the Devil.”
He admitted to the New York Times in an August 26 article that he has no knowledge of the Koran: I have no experience with it whatsoever. I only know what the Bible says. As well, in my direct contacts with his church, I have learned that he claims God told him to do this burning....
A caller to Jeff Katz on Rush Radio said this morning that she thinks the whole thing is a set up.
You beat me, sorta’, by 12 seconds. Great minds, and all that, eh?
Pretty fragile faith and beliefs, then.
Makes no difference the boyz in New York City never heard of Fruita Colorado either.that we are fifteen mile closer to
that Mormon Beehive is something they might relate to my
choice of listening to Glenn Beck but they wouldn’t understand that either. The Koran is not a holy book to me I
care less what any other choose do with that bloody book.
But as an American I wish we’d get back to the tolerance only of other Christians as it was n this countries beginning.
Agreed. A call from Obama? Maybe they can have a beer summit. “The pastor acted stupidly.”
Yeah, that quote sounds,well . . . Islamic.
Islam is one of the largest threats to the future of our freedom. The mind control they exert is nothing short of cult like. I like the no holds barred approach to combatting the evilness that is Islam
This NY Post article is bull. The headline says that Pastor Jones will cancel the Koran burning if Obama calls him. The body of the article says that Jones will reconsider if called. Reconsidering is not necessarily canceling. Additionally, there is no actual quote from Jones, nor is any context provided for this alleged statement. I’m calling b.s. on the whole piece.
“Imagine that you are a nobody preacher, and based on burning some mass-produced books you bought with your own money, you can get the weakest president in 160 years to make a phone call to you to beg because you said so?
That is power”
If Obamugabe doesn’t call the guy, the books get torched, and then the muzzies get their turbans in a twist.
It’s all Obamugabe’s fault because he didn’t call.
AHHH, a reverse Alinsky!
I call ya a jackass “pastor”
NOt only should this koran burning become a movement, but we need to make he feds know that it is a free speech right.
The Muslims have banned bibles from their home countries and persecuted Christians, and now they are persecuting Christians right here in the US by trying to remove their free speech rights ( calling it hate speech.)
Eff ever damned Muslim who is offended by burning a koran, they are getting what they have been handing out for years.
The demonization of islam is long overdue. This pastor might be out to lunch but we should support his little BBQ.
Rev. Jones, tell Mr. O, to confess his faith in Jesus Christ the only son of the living GOD, as his personnel savior, on TV for all America to hear.
Next: demand he show is REAL B.O.
Then we can reconsider the book burning. That's the deal. OK? OK.
Church of 50?!
That’s a Sweet 16 party!
People are making this guy more powerful than the Pope!
I like your thought process!
Meanwhile the church had its web site pulled;
