It's a good thing to be reminded that actors and entertainers have always been and continue to be from among the dullest level of societies.
Just check how they were viewed during Shakespeare's age and every generation since.

Movies made it possible for them to hide their ignorance, stupidity and lack of common sense.

I have a strong suspicion that if you threw an economics question at Griffiths you would get a "deer-in-the-headlights" stare back.

I’ve read that Andy has always been a pri_k. He’s very rude to anyone who asks for an autograph. I, for one, don’t understand why anywone would want one but....

I agree and throw out this thought. An Actor's stock-in-trade is the same thing as being a con-man, it is the innate ability to lie convincingly. And, as psychology has shown, such people very seldom have the ability to hold themselves apart from their peer groups.

Historically, these groups of entertainers have been shown to be libertine and aloof from contemporary morality. Andy Griffith has ridden his Mayberry Persona for decades, he is not what he portrayed.
