I can’t agree with you here. O’Donnell has at least had the balls to go up against the corrupt DE establishment (a mini-Illinois if there ever was one). It’s thanks to liberal, senile frauds like Castle that the GOP has been on the rapid descent in the state, and I’m not rewarding that by supporting him. I’m more than a little disgusted with the smears of O’Donnell as well. The desperation of the establishment bitterly clinging to power.
BTW, I absolutely believe the rumors that Castle WILL switch parties if he wins (and will apparently resign to allow, yup, Beau Biden to take daddy’s seat). Coons was a desultory opponent fielded by the Dem side so that Castle would “win” while the GOP agreed not to put up any candidates against Biden. Fraud and collusion, and it’s Castle that needs to come clean and tell the truth as to what is REALLY going on here. He’s the real joke.
Why would Castle run for reelection to the House every two years since 1996, finally get his chance at an open Senate seat (as you know, Castle would have preferred Roth to retire in 1994 so that he could have run straight for the Senate that year instead of having to bide his time in the House), get elected, and then immediately resign so as to let Joe Biden’s son get the Senate seat? That doesn’t make a lick of sense. Castle is a liberal, not a lunatic.
That Castle might switch to the Democrats someday ... sure, I could see that perhaps happening in the future, but only if it was in Castle’s selfish interests to do so, which would certainly not be the case after the GOP takes back both the House and Senate this year. If Castle didn’t switch to the Democrats before the 2006 or (especially) 2008 elections, when having an R next to his name was a huge liability and when he could have been in the majority party in the House, he certainly won’t switch before 2014 (when his seat is up). And whether or not he switches in 2014, I think that we need to get a solid, non-gadfly conservative to run against him that year.
I don’t want to “reward” Castle, but I don’t want to reward Coons either. We lost our chance to have a conservative win this seat when the only persons filing to run in the GOP primary were the RINO Castle and the Joe-Walsh-like O’Donnell. I think that we need to cut our loses and elect Castle for the four years remaining in Biden’s term, elect conservatives to downballot races, and have one of them run against Castle in 2014. I can understand if you cannot countenance supporting Castle even as part of a long-term strategy, so we’ll just have to agree to disagree on this one.
