N.J. Republicans hope to ride Gov. Christie's rising star to midterm success

TRENTON — New Jersey’s Republican congressional challengers are usually outgunned and out-funded by incumbent Democrats, but this year they have one benefit they haven’t had in at least a decade: a Republican governor with a growing national profile.

Gov. Chris Christie has already started making the rounds for members of his party, stumping for candidates seeking to oust Democrats in the state’s three most competitive races. And while Republicans hope for clear skies for their autumn campaign events in the state’s 13 congressional districts, they’re counting on Christie to make it rain financially.

The governor is also heading into districts where Republicans have a tough battle but think they may have a shot — or at least the chance to make Democrats spend some money. This week, Christie will host a fundraiser for tea party favorite Anna Little, who faces Rep. Frank Pallone (D-6th Dist.). On Sept. 24, he’ll hit the road for Scott Sipprelle, the Republican nominee challenging Rep. Rush Holt (D-12th Dist.).

Little did not have the support of the Republican Party establishment during her primary run against Diane Gooch, a wealthy newspaper publisher. But after Little beat Gooch by fewer than 100 votes in the June primary, the party came calling.

"They’re more comfortable around me now than they were," Little said.

Christie next plans a Wednesday fundraiser for Little that she expects will raise at least $100,000.

Chris Christie won the 6th Congressional District now held by Democrat Frank Pallone by 12.5% last November. The Republican, Anna Little, has a real good shot at bumping off the self-described "Architect of Obamacare".

Left to right, Jon Runyan (3rd District), Steve Sipprelle (12th District)
and Anna Little (6th District) are all Republicans who Gov. Christie
will try and help get elected this November.

I’d LOVE to see that awful Frank Pallone defeated.
The guy makes me utterly sick.

Well, 11-term Congressman Frank Pallone is running about 40% in the polls right now. That is a very vulnerable position for an incumbent with 100% name recognition, nine weeks out.

60% of the electorate knows Pallone, and wants to vote for somebody else. Anna Little is a great “someone else”, a genuine Conservative, who is right on spending, government, 2A and Life.
