GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) A Christian minister said Tuesday that he will go ahead with plans to burn copies of the Quran to protest the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks despite warnings from the top U.S. general in Afghanistan and the White House that doing so would endanger U.S. troops.
Pastor Terry Jones of the Dove World Outreach Center said he understands the government's concerns, but plans to go forward with the burning this Saturday, the ninth anniversary of the attacks.

Maybe a tasteful back yard ceremony would be better, like I do.
I used to cut the cover into the shapes of my shoes and walk around on them all day, but I decided I don’t like being that close to evil.

Personally it just seems kind of pointless to me.
He should use it to put the muslim world on the spot by demanding the release of the iranian woman facing stoning in return for not burning them.

How much you want to bet some federal judge will somehow magically find some obscure way to halt the Koran Burning ?
Tick, tick, tick ...

I’m convinced that this pastor is merely seeking attention for his 50 member congregation.
Koran burning should be conducted during non-church hours.

The talking points are out there, this puts our troops in jeopardy.
8 years of calling Bush a war criminal, chanting that he "lied", and that the "insurgents" are "freedom fighters" who deserve to win (Michael Moore, et al) did "nothing" to put our troops (or contractors) in jeopardy.
I ain't buying it.

Golly gee.... Doesn't the church have the right to burn the Koran? That is what the critics of the church say about Iman Rauf and Bloomberg building that mega mosque on ground zero hallowed ground. Iman Raul, Obama, and Bloomberg say the Muslims have a right to build that mega mosque in the hallowed ground zero vicinity. When that mosque is built (if it is built) it will be a giant middle finger to the 9/11 families and the rest of America.
Is the pc crowd showing a little hypocrisy here?

"Pastor" Terry Jones seems to have graduated from the Fred Phelps school of evangelism.
In any case, he's a damned fool.

Or... the Feds could come in and shoot him for having an unlicensed fire.

Actually, I believe the FEDS could come in and arrest him for being a NATIONAL SECURITY RISK.

Point taken, though.

His actions may be foolish but no more so than those Christian ministers who will be reading from the Koran their churches in a counter protest.

He should say “ok, we won’t burn them, but we went out and bought a heavy duty industrial paper shredder, and we need to test it”

What, precisely, is his goal? It's certainly not an act designed to attract Muslims to Christianity.
It is, in fact, an act of hatred.
The man is not behaving like a Christian. He is behaving like a nazi.
To hell with him.

True enough. Burning a US flag is offensive to probably 1/2 of all Americans but don’t dare insult a muslim.

P.S. That is why Obama publicly declared that the minister was putting TROOPS at RISK. This 'legitimizes' the National Security Risk issue.
Don't be surprised if you see him arrested, on or before the Eleventh.
