I read through the thread and just went back to it. I still don’t see where it says she was uncovered.

So if it is immodest, should they just bow out of public appearances for the duration, or just let the hungry baby cry until they can get somewhere private?

The latter.

I managed to live through the Feminist Era with only a divorce to show for it. this is nothing more than the tail end of the Feminist 'I am Woman hear me roar' message. It wasn't a pretty message back then, and it's still an ugly, loud, obnoxious message now.

As it was with Feminism, and homosexuals, my side may lose this battle for a while, but if Beck's idea of a more moral/religious society takes hold, well, modesty will reign.

If Beck’s message fails, my children and grandchildren are in such a heap of trouble breastfeeding will be a non-issue.

In either event, 15 or 20 years from now I don't thing anyone will be talking about this. In the meantime, I'll just live my life the way I usually do, allowing the pushy women on this issue make a spectacle of themselves, and take my business to those who prefer to offer a more conventional environment.

BTW, you talked about the 'extreme' talk of those who agree with me. Remember, it wasn't us who made an issue of this, it's your side.

My side is only fighting to defend the institutions that made These United States what it is today. It is those who agree with you who are on the attack against those institutions

My side? Your side?

I am on the side of the US Constitution and have sworn an oath to protect and defend it.

What side are YOU on?

The nutty side that thinks it is impossible for a woman to breastfeed in public modestly, obviously; and that they should let the child cry until they can go somewhere private.

Sorry about your divorce and the resulting animosity towards women it apparently caused you. I hope that works out for you.

I would agree with that ... but the rights of private property owners to set their own rules is long gone ... see anti-smoking laws.

Millions of moral and/or religous women breast feed in public all over the world.

Breastfeeding in public is not immoral or irreligous.

Women breasted their babies in public for most of the history of the United States as well.

You know, I was starting to wonder if FR’s standards are slipping a bit because I don’t remember seeing a single “this thread is useless without pics” comment and we are well past 100 posts.

It is kinda NSFW, but I was surprised no one had posted a link to Rodney Carrington singing Show Them to Me. . .

Vatican approves breast-feeding pictures of Virgin Mary
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/italy/2185823/Vatican-approves-breast-feeding-pictures-of-Virgin-Mary.html

The Vatican has called for worshippers to be less prudish about seeing the Virgin Mary breast-feeding Jesus.

A vast number of paintings depicting the bare breasts of the Madonna have been “censored by the modern age” because they were too “unseemly”, according to L’Osservatore Romano, the official newspaper of the Holy See.

Lucetta Scaraffia, a church historian, has called for the image of Mary as an human, tender and loving mother to be rehabilitated. She said: “Jesus was a baby like all others. His divinity does not exclude his humanity”.

Sorry about your divorce and the resulting animosity towards women it apparently caused you.

No animosity here, after my divorce I met my soulmate, and we are about to celibrate our 15th. I just used that to illustrate the hurt and destruction your side has caused in the relentless pursuit of 'me, me, me'.

Why the assult on the instituions that have made our country what it is?

Why all the anger and vindictiveness from your side when we just want to continue as we always have?

Why the bitterness and rage when we just want to be left alone?

I grew up in the 50s and 60s, where 'mothers rooms' were common, and were used.

Why all the bitterness and rage when modest nursing mothers just want to be left alone and nurse as they always have?

My side?

My side is the US Constitution, that I have sworn an oath to protect and defend.

>>Women breasted their babies in public for most of the history of the United States as well.<<

Well, for the recent history of the United States, no they didn’t. According to the men in my family and my Grandmother in law, to see a woman bare a breast to feed a child would be appalling in good company and show a horrible lack of class. Maybe you’re just talking about classless people.

For the long history of the USA people used privies. Wanna go back? I like indoor plumbing, thanks.

If they want to be left alone then why not cover and not draw attention to themselves?

Maybe I made a mistake, aren’t you arguing that people like me should just shut up and let these pushy women breastfeed in public?

Have you been following the conversation? Did you skip the word “modest” in my post?

I am a full on cover advocate.

But that is not enough for the person I am posting to, and many others, who like to approach modest nursing mothers and tell them that they are immodest.

No matter how modestly they do it, and even if nobody saw anything, he maintains that they are “self-absorbed” and that the act itself is inherently immodest and not to be done in public.

Follow?

I am arguing that your immaturity and immorality is not of pressing concern to a modest nursing mother who just wants to feed her infant, and she should be left alone.

But you think nursing, even covered and with nobody seeing anything, is an immodest act not to be done in public and she should let the child go hungry rather than offend your sense of public decency.

But maybe you should complain to management, or in person, and that makes it HILARIOUS that you are advancing the argument that it is a matter of just wanting to be left alone.

LOL!!! LOL!!!! LLOOLL!!! What? ...... Not laughing?

Why the viciousness and vindictiveness from your side?

This shop owner isn’t stupid, they know that if they don’t prostrate themselves as they have done, all hell is going to rain down on them from those who think as you do.

We don’t know just how vicious the local feminists are, but this would very well drive this owner out of business if he doesn’t concede.

Why do those on you side have to viciously attack the very institutions that have made this country great?

A coffee shop that asked a nursing mom to not based upon customer complaints is an institution that has made this country great?

And I'm not even attacking them.

I am pointing out the ludicrous nature of the position that they are “self-absorbed” and immodest to nurse in public AT ALL, even if they are covered and nobody saw anything.

Is complaining to management and/or approaching the nursing mother in person an institution that has made this country great?

I told you my side. You know, our Constitution that has made this a great and free Republic. What is your side again? That they shouldn't do it at all in public, no matter how covered, because it offends your sense of decency.

Hey, I am all for letting people on about their business, especially when that business is feeding a baby that might otherwise be squalling!
