Mom 'beat' tragic tot with belt

The mother of a severely malnourished 4-year-old found dead last week in Brooklyn would beat her tyke with a belt and force-feed the child sleeping pills, authorities said yesterday.
Carlotta Brett-Pierce was especially furious with her daughter, Marchella, because the girl, who weighed a mere 18 pounds when she died, would get up at night and "eat from the fridge and make a mess," said prosecutor Tracey Downing at a Brooklyn Criminal Court hearing.

I’ve adopted to children - one of which had similar conditions - and I can say that that mother knew exactly what she was doing, despite past neglect and abuse. If she was treated that way - and didn’t like - her choice was there not to repeat the same. However, hate and evil takes on so many different versions - that it is hard to distinugish those who enjoy and those that are tormented to conduct themselves in such a way. She should have sought help or put the child up for adoption.
When a 4-yr old sneaks out at night to raid the refrid - that is a hugh red flag - trying to survive. I know the one child I have stresses when it comes to food - something we work on daily...
This so called mother should receive the death penalty for this - there’s no sense in it what so ever!
