He also presided, when a non-Christian, at the stoning of St Stephen. He always considered himself a murderer, and I’m sure that’s part of the reason.
At this incident, thoroughly aware of what it means to preside at the scene of a bad example, he did NOT rush in to stop them shouting: “don’t burn those texts.”
Instead he allowed it to happen.
And Jesus wasn’t currying favor when he called his opponents: “of their father, the devil.”
And at the command of the same Lord, not texts, but UNBELIEVERS are going to be...burned for eternity.
