There was a story going around (don’t know how true it is) that during the first Gulf War. Supposedly, French rations were so desirable, their troops would trade their rations with other forces at a 3:1 exchange - 3 of your rats for 1 of theirs.

I still have some “Food Packet, Long Range Patrol” and “Prototype Food Packet, Assault Menu” pouches that I have accumulated, and some old C-Ration meals, but I ate my old French rations from the 1980s.
