Sowell misses the mark. Regulations were required when banks were allowed to gamble with taxpayer funds when they repealed Glass Stegall and allowed unlimited leverage. The regulators also failed to properly police Freddy and Fanny.

Well written as always and the scary thing is he didn’t even bring up the unions and how they too help Democrats benefit from bail out money.

No President of the United States can create either a budget deficit or a budget surplus. All spending bills originate in the House of Representatives and all taxes are voted into law by Congress. Democrats controlled both houses of Congress before Barack Obama became president. The deficit he inherited was created by the Congressional Democrats, including Senator Barack Obama, who did absolutely nothing to oppose the runaway spending. He was one of the biggest of the big spenders.
What a shame that none of the elected Republicans seem capable of making this simple point coherently when being interviewed by the LeftStream Media.

Wow, there is at least one columnist in America who understands the US Constitution.
There are a lot of conservatives who despise Obama, but the fact remains the Democrats in Congress are mostly responsible for everything that has gone wrong the last four years.
If the GOP leadership had any balls or common sense, they should be running on their record. It is actually a pretty good record.
It is vastly superior to the train wreck that the Democrats have brought us.

I am continually amazed at the brilliant thinking of Thomas Sowell, I agree with everything he says ;>) Seriously, his main criticism of the Republicans is that they go along with the Democrats too much, that is what I have thought for years and years. The Republicans often act like the little brother of a bully, they may protest against what he wants to do but they are afraid to go against him.
