All the climber clymer has to do is unfurl an “Impeach Obama” banner to earn the media’s ire...
Go Spidey, Go!
No nets, no ropes and yes, no permission.
SAN FRANCISCO, CA - San Francisco police shut down Mission Street Monday afternoon because of a man scaling a South of Market skyscraper without ropes or permission, a police spokesman said.
Dan Goodwin, 54, was climbing the Millennium Tower at 301 Mission St. since about 2:15 p.m., police spokesman Officer Albie Esparza said.
“The building is 58 stories tall. Shortly before 4 p.m., he was about halfway up,” Esparza said.
Mission Street was shut down between Fremont and Beale streets, and the fire department’s heavy rescue team was called in as a precaution.
Esparza said Goodwin ignored orders to stop climbing the building.
“We will have officers waiting for him at the top of the building to detain him pending further investigation,” Esparza said.
Esparza said he does not know what spurred the climb.

That looks like a lot of work.
Better hope the guy that installed the windows knew what he was doing.
As if they would give permission to do that.
58 stories that’s close to or over 600 feet. The longest single climb I ever did in my yout was 600’ vertical.
“pending investigation”
The public servants are so stupid they don’t know if this is legal or not yet we have to give them guaranteed pension raises every year.
Some times crossing the Bay Bridge I would see men walking up the cables doing maintenance. Talk about nerves of steel
I have a phobia about falling so I can’t imagine how these window washers and bridge workers can do their jobs.
Interestingly, some property management companies actually do, just not in this country. I read a story several years ago about one of the "Spiderman's" climbs - in Taiwan, I believe - and he was actually paid by the builder to climb the building to generate buzz and publicity. But, our tort system is such here, that no one dares give him permission - or so went the general theory of the story.
It's not the falling that bothers me. It's the sudden stopping that gives me the heebie-jeebies.
We will have officers waiting for him at the top of the building to detain him pending further investigation, Esparza said.
This guy doesn’t appear to be in the best of shape .... they might should just wait on him at the bottom of the building.
