It’s funny how little respect Petraeus has earned by winning the war in Iraq against all odds. Now he’s looked upon as an idiot by those same people who only recently were calling him a great American hero. I guess we all know more than he does about fighting these wars, don’t we?
I wouldn’t put the Iraq War in the win column just yet, though his surge was undoubtedly successful. But what is the point of winning a battle—and surrendering on the Constitution? If anything I expect his Obama-led groveling to embolden the Islamists, not to make American troops safer. But I suppose in your eyes he should be beyond my judgment?

You think we “won” in Iraq?!
I define winning a war as vanquishing the enemy to the point resulting in unconditional surrender and the cessation of hostilities. We have not done that - nor ever been expected nor allowed to do that - since WWII. Patraeus merely prolonged the inevitable.
