With all due respect General, the Taliban and other Islamo-facists will use ANYTHING we do here in the US as propaganda against us.

Wasn't it a few weeks ago some General said something to the effect that American Troops should remove their eye protection...

A few months ago how the military should accept Homosexuals in their ranks?

Was it the same General?

Pretty Boy, GQ Magazine PC Generals for whom “Victory is not an option”. Ever so well spoken who can clearly articulate and demonstrate using Power point why the tensile strength of a wet paper bag it too great from them to fight their way out of.

America's GIs never outfought.

Americas’ current crop of Generals and Admirals out-thought by the enemy every time.

I grudgingly agree with Petraeus.

While I think burning the Koran doesn’t accomplish anything, it is within their rights. Besides aren’t the libs always defending Islam saying only the extremists perform terrorism and that we should be tolerant .Shouldn’t followers of Islam be expected to also have to be equally tolerant?

The islamics need to go around saying ‘this isn’t all the USA or all christians’ like we’re supposed to say about them, and should be fine.

No? Wait, you mean there’s a double standard?!

Well we could make him up some little folders with THIS on them:

Dear Taliban ... You rebuild the 1700 year old statues, we'll stop burning Korans ... then we can debate it. Go tend to your poppy fields. (While they exist!)

A church burning Korans is not going to convert Muslims. They should be out preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ if they feel led to undermine Islam.

While I understand Gen. Petraeus desire to protect our troops, and agree that the Taliban will use this action for their own propoganda, it seems Gen. Petraeus has far more powerful tools within his means to accomplish the same goal.........open up the Rules of Engagement to allow our Marines to actually kill the Taliban and push them out of these regions.....once and for all.

We are losing troops because of ROE’s that are designed to win the hearts and minds of the Afghani’s. Issuing press releases about some crazy church exerting their freedoms in America is fine, but those are just words. How about some real action to protect our troops?

This burning the Koran thing is stupid. Burning books is a sign of fear, and indication that we fear what is written in them.

We don’t.

I would much prefer a “let’s tell the truth about what’s written in the Koran” day.

...said the planned burning of Qurans on Sept. 11 by a Florida church could put the lives of American troops in danger and damage the war effort.
Imagine, lives of American troops could be put in danger in a theater of war. Petraeus was brought back to burnish Zero's reputation and ruin Petraeus'. Thanks Kaslin.

While Petraeus is right that the Taliban will use it for propaganda purposes, it is also true that the koran is just ink on paper. I’m surprised the islamics admit they worship ink on paper and have an inky paper mache god named “ink allah”

Besides, free speech allows me to burn what I want on my own time at my own place.

The more I hear reports about General Petraus, saying the small church in Gainesville burning the koran will put soldiers in harms way, the more I say bullshit.
To me that would be the equivalent of telling a woman to not wear a short skirt because you will encourage a rapist. Wasn't the rapist a RAPIST before anyone showed up with a short skirt?
There is no blame going towards islam for anything. Wasn't Islam killing Americans before anyone burned even one koran?

One thing I want to know is HOW does a third world Country with 1 TV for every 10,000 people get a report about what a church is going to do in Gainesville. The media & leftest that want nothing more than islam to attack our own Country, tell our enemies(islam) what is going on. So when something does happen it won't be the muslim terrorist's fault..it will be someone else’s fault.

These same leftest will gladly burn a US Flag or a Christian Bible & claim freedom of speech.
Unbelievable

This will not be a popular reply, but what the hell

Burning books is not the way to go. It smells of totalitarianism. Petraeus is an educated man man that is speaking out against the idea of the idea of burning the ideas in them. No matter how repulsed we may be by the Koran, the symbolism of burning them is wrong.

Fahrenheit 451 and A Brave New World laid out the dangers of this quite well. Nazi Germany ilustrated it even better. We ain't Saudi, we ain't Nazi Germany. We are America. Let's be real, doing crap like this sets the precedent for the bozo's that would follow Obama into the abyss. Petraeus is expressing what an American General should, American Values. Flame away.
