KABULThe top U.S. commander in Afghanistan said the planned burning of Qurans on Sept. 11 by a Florida church could put the lives of American troops in danger and damage the war effort.
Gen. David Petraeus said the Taliban would exploit the demonstration for propaganda purposes, drumming up anger toward the U.S. and making it harder for allied troops to carry out their mission of protecting Afghan civilians.
"It could endanger troops and it could endanger the overall effort," Gen. Petraeus said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal. "It is precisely the kind of action the Taliban uses and could cause significant problems. Not just here, but everywhere in the world we are engaged with the Islamic community."

Pure nation building with little or no shooting at those who would kill our soldiers in a heartbeat.
“How many Nazis did Patton have fighting for him?”
Very few to none. You make an excellent point. We shouldn’t be protecting, coddling, and endorsing a subversive political machine aimed at the overthrow of the U.S. Government, and every other nation government, for the institution of sharia law. They are an enemy to freedom, everywhere they step foot, and their “religion” condones and encourages lying to “infidels” in order to institute their fantasy one world government.
You’re right, we should employ in the armed services those that grenade our own troops, or shoot up bases. Spot on.
(Oh wait, were you being an apologist?...if so, nevermind)
Amen
Amen.

If Islam takes notice of FR and issues threats of violence against our troops in Afghanistan and the 0baMao administration condemns us will that be the end of posting criticism of Muslims here? No more cartoons, no more negative comments, no more critical articles posted? Because the friendly Muslims in Kabul might go sudden-Jihad on our troops?
I agree. The General is concerned with the welfare of his command which is his job.
What do the Quran burners hope to accomplish, besides
maybe getting some unwary American killed by a mob?
B$, if he had mentioned how they do it and that we are better than that, maybe.
Where do we find such men?
Agree
Then maybe he should let the troops chamber a round, instead of offering exceptional restraint medals.
Politicians are insane, Generals are supposed to be a little smarter.
So if he was to complain about Code Pink’s encouragement for the other team that would be bad too?

If all of those things are true then we will never win their “hearts and minds.” They are functionally psychotics. The only arrangement that can ever be made is to capitulate to every demand they make.
So generals are in command of how US Churches conduct their religious services, and if they don’t change their religious practices they are ‘traitors’? Interesting approach.
If your religious practive causes deaths of more US soldiers, you might want to take break and ask yourselve why you did that with your freedom. If my son was still there, and I saw it, I’d stop it.
The whole Koran thing reminds me of the scene in Men in Blck when J kept on stepping on cock roaches to rile up the big bug monster. Lets burn a few Korans, lets call the cowards out.
