What I don’t understand is journalist/bloggers like Eric Erickson putting out notes against O’Connell and seeming to buy into all this against her and covering for Castle.

Pardon my ignorance, maybe someone can enligthen me. It is simple. Erickson thinks the lady is 'too conservative'. This has been much played out in the political theatre, especially since Goldwater, and later, Reagan, appeared on the stage.
