McCain wants a new GOP 'Contract with America' (McCain says Tea Parties "nice addition" to GOP)

Arizona Sen. John McCain said Sunday this fall's midterm elections could be "seismic," but that Republicans need to make a better direct appeal to the American people in order to sweep their votes.

"We need to give voters a reason to be for us, not just against the Democrats," the 2008 Republican presidential nominee said on "Fox News Sunday."

McCain said the GOP needs to create another "Contract with America" — the electoral and policy blueprint put forth by Republicans in 1994, the last time the GOP swept Congress.

"We need to make a short list of promises to the American people," hen added, citing a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution and "repealing and replacing" the health care law passed earlier this year.

The senator also praised the tea party and the energy it brings to Republicans heading into an election that could win majorities for the GOP in both Houses.

"Tea-partiers are a great addition," he said.

Hopefully, the new senate GOP caucus will decide that seniority *alone* is not enough for committee chairmanships, or even memberships.

Don’t play dumb, support Nolan is support amnesty and opposing the border fence. He has many of the same positions as McCain and several issues.

I’m sure you justify it by proclaiming at least you aren’t voting for the “R” in the same way Ron Paul endorsed Ralph Nader and Cynthia McKinney..

...all about political games to you.. it wasn’t about principles, it was simply about third parties.

Because the people of Arizona thrust him upon the rest of us.

Like Nevada, they are about to get a consequence.

If John McCain had one single ounce of self respect, he would resign this very day.

No, it's about getting rid of RINO/CINO trash.

And to that end, Arizona conservatives should vote for anyone they please (or not at all), so long as they don't vote for McCain!

What’s wrong with what he said? The primary is over now, how about going after the Democrat opponent? Or isn’t that really your end goal?

JOhn McCain is a backstabbing POS. The day he exits the Senate for good will be a truly glorious day in America.

In that race this year, I’d have one heck of a hard time not voting Democrat.

McCain is the proverbial loose cannon rolling around on the deck — you never know what will come out of his mouth next.

Rabs, you would support a guy who is to the LEFT of McCain on the border fence. It shows you are just a third-party weasel with no underlying principles.

>>> What an arrogant, delusional POS

And of course had he said they were not, the post would have been the same. How convenient, such a great time saver. Heads I win, tails he loses. Except of course, in the real world he didn’t.

>>> the Tea Party owns the GOP now

Senator Hayworth presiding as the new head of the GOP ?

>>> McCain must be really getting dispirit.

That was the cliche used in most every McCain thread leading up to the primary, where he won by a landslide. Knowing something of Hayworth I didn’t believe it then, and my guess is it isn’t true now either.

FUJM!

Couildn’t you put the FUJM in a larger, bold font?

How clever McAnmesty must think he is to try to co-opt the Tea Party for Republicans. It’s a non-partisen group, fool. Tea Parties must make it clear that it is so and counter McCain immediately.

Here's who Rabs thinks Arizonans should vote for in the name of conservatism:

We need a sane and humane plan to keep America safe while allowing honest people to enter our country. The idea of building a “Berlin Wall” along our borders is repugnant.

Sounds like something that would come out of Obama's or Pelosi's mouth.

"There aren’t many options now the primary is over, who would you suggest the people in Arizona get behind, Nolan?"

Who is Nolan?? Dem or Republican?

Anybody, half way decent, would get my vote against McCain, if I lived in AZ.
