TIME Magazine’s Latest Blood Libel About Israel
Israelnationalnews ^ | 9/5/2010 | Prof. Phyllis Chesler

The September 13, 2010 issue of TIME Magazine arrived yesterday. The cover story is titled “Why Israel Doesn’t Care About Peace”

This is precisely the point of Karl Vick’s article. He writes:

Israelis are no longer preoccupied with the matter [of peace with the Palestinians]. They’re otherwise engaged: They’re making money; they’re enjoying the rays of the late summer … they have moved on.

According to Vick, Israelis don’t care about peace, peace negotiations, or about the Palestinians because they are simply having too good a time: sunbathing, swimming, .. profiting from start-up companies,

Of course, Jews are the original Palestinians and the most indigenous of the region’s inhabitants; yes, there are many impoverished Israelis, both Jews and non-Jews; and, let’s not forget that there are even some Israelis who remain permanently on high alert for the next terrorist attack, permanently scarred by the last ones. For a moment, let’s forget about all that. Allow me to ask: Why doesn’t Vick also point out that Palestinians are leading the high life on the West Bank and in sumptuous villas on both the West Bank and in Gaza; that they, too, are sunbathing, swimming, shopping, dining

Vick writes that real estate is booming, as is business in general, Israeli “brainiacs” have helped their nation avoid the economic disasters that have plunged Europe and America into a recession. He literally writes this. “Israel avoided the debt traps that dragged the U.S. and Europe into recession. It is known as a start-up nation—second only to the U.S. companies listed on the Nasdaq exchange.”

Buried—but really buried-- in Vick’s four page cover piece are snippets of true facts: That the Israelis are weary of peace negotiations which never succeed because the Palestinians do not want peace;

Proof that Israel doesn't want peace is that Israelis are going on with their lives....and succeeding.

Proof that the Arabs want peace, I guess, by the two terrorist attacks and murders last week and their constant threats to walk away from peace talks.

...proof that Israel has something the Arabs dont...brains and ingenuity. I’ll bet they obtain 10 Nobels before the WORLD of Islam gets one assuming the stupid barbarians of the world allow Israel’s existence.

Whatever happens to Israel, (the only democracy in the whole mideast) happens to the rest of civilization in Europe and America....not necessarily in that order

Some excerpts from the TIME article:

Heli and Eli sell condos on Exodus Street, a name that evokes a certain historical hardship in a neighborhood that suggests none at all, the ingathering of the Jews having entered a whole new realm here. The talk in the little office is of interest rates and panoramic sea views from handsomely appointed properties selling on the Ashdod waterfront for half what people are asked to pay in Tel Aviv, 18 miles (29 km) to the north. And sell they do, hand over fist — never mind the rockets that fly out of Gaza, 14 miles (22.5 km) to the south. “Even when the Qassams fell, we continued to sell!” says Heli Itach, slapping a palm on the office desk. The skull on her designer shirt is made of sequins spelling out “Love Kills Slowly.” “What the people see on the TV there is not true here,” she says. “I sold, this week, 12 apartments. You’re not client, I tell you the truth.”

The truth? In the week that three Presidents, a King and their own Prime Minister gather at the White House to begin a fresh round of talks on peace between Israel and the Palestinians, the truth is, Israelis are no longer preoccupied with the matter. They’re otherwise engaged; they’re making money; they’re enjoying the rays of late summer. A watching world may still define their country by the blood feud with the Arabs whose families used to live on this land and whether that conflict can be negotiated away, but Israelis say they have moved on.

Now observing 2½ years without a single suicide bombing on their territory, with the economy robust and with souls a trifle weary of having to handle big elemental thoughts, the Israeli public prefers to explore such satisfactions as might be available from the private sphere, in a land first imagined as a utopia. “Listen to me,” says Eli Bengozi, born in Soviet Georgia and for 40 years an Israeli. “Peace? Forget about it. They’ll never have peace. Remember Clinton gave 99% to Arafat, and instead of them fighting for 1%, what? Intifadeh.”

But wait. Deep down (you can almost hear the outside world ask), don’t Israelis know that finding peace with the Palestinians is the only way to guarantee their happiness and prosperity? Well, not exactly. Asked in a March poll to name the “most urgent problem” facing Israel, just 8% of Israeli Jews cited the conflict with Palestinians, putting it fifth behind education, crime, national security and poverty. Israeli Arabs placed peace first, but among Jews here, the issue that President Obama calls “critical for the world” just doesn’t seem — critical.

Another whack for the desk. “The people,” Heli says, “don’t believe.” Eli searches for a word. “People in Israel are indifferent,” he decides. “They don’t care if there’s going to be war. They don’t care if there’s going to be peace. They don’t care. They live in the day.”

...................................................

If Israelis have adjusted to life with the murderous barbarians next door, if they are just going on with their lives-

TIME IMPLIES THAT’S A BAD THING

Time just joined the ranks of the soon to be defunct print media. I hope and pray her dwindling readership continues along the same Barak Obama path...downwards, ever so downwards!
By joining forces with Israel's enemies that rag of a publication has just removed itself from any sort of legitimate news reporting media.

How can anybody write that Israelis don't care about peace? They want it far more than the Arabs. Israel is just easier prey for scum-journalists like Karl Vick because she is a free, Western Democratic society - the complete opposite of her neighbors. Mr. Vick knows that had he written one sentence about the Palestinians in the same vain that he wrote about the Israelis they might kill him the minute he steps into Ramallah or Gaza. This is the mark of a true, yellow coward of a journalist.

Go to Hades (”Gehenom” in Hebrew) Mr. Vick!!!!

Notice this statement of historical untruths, parroting Arab propaganda.

“Jews are the most indigenous of the area’s inhabitants” sounds a lot more like propaganda than blood libel. Even the Bible describes Israel as having other tribes in it when the Jews arrive after 40 years in the desert.

As for the Jews getting on with life: good for them. Hopefully the Palestinians decide to get on with life too someday soon. I hardly call that claim a “blood libel”. Someone is being a little over- sensitive.

Jews are the most indigenous of the area’s inhabitants

That quote is by the author at Israernationalnews rebutting the TIME libel- not from the TIME article.

It is defamatory when you attempt to show that people are indifferent to a peace the whole World cares about. Read the TIME article.

Another blog I read said a New York Times editor was bemoaning the fact that the anti-terror wall is working so well.

The author owes the world the benefit of his wisdom.

Time needs to define the laundry list of Israeli concessions they believe would be “enough” for the Pali’s.

And when have the Arabs cared about peace? Never. They have just used “peace” as a tactic for slowly dismantling Israel.

The wall is not even completed and yet it is very effective. About 95% of the wall is actual metal fence, the remaining 5% is made out of concrete, which many say looks like the Berlin Wall. Remember this obstacle was designed to keep out murderous Palestinians who killed 1000 Israeli civilians (equal to 54,000 Americans) between 2000-2002. So, am I supposed to feel bad that I have saved innocent Jewish lives? Times answer is yes.

It always amazes me when some hack writes one of these articles. Israel is surrounded by enemies that want them exterminated. And if the Israelis aren’t on their knees begging for peace, somehow the ISRAELIs are the problem.

Time and Newsweek, the latter being worth $1 and I mean the corporation not an issue of the magazine, are both irrelevant, worthless publications. Time and Newsweek are dinosaur media, which means that they’re on the way out and will be extinct, the sooner the better.

Neh the arabs with the help of Obama will get a nobel for astrophysics via NASA. Imagine if TIME ran a piece like that on Islam. Such a double standard.
