Jack, this is correct - Carly took a stagnant company and leveraged them into the powerhouse they are today. When she started at HP in 99 - HP’s revenue was $42.4 billion and by the time she left it was $86.7 billion. She increased HP workers by 10,000 - in 99 there were 84,400 HP employees and when she left in 2005 there were over 150,000. Taking into consideration the merger of HP and Compaq brought the company to a total headcount of 140,000 - seems to me that she created some 10,000 jobs. She made the hard decisions to streamline HP and cut waste. What is interesting is that when she left, the new Management Team continued her business plan.
