New York, US - The world cannot afford escalating disasters of the kind recently witnessed in Pakistan and Russia, the Executive Secretary of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Christina Figueres, said Friday.
At a press conference in Geneva, Switzerland, Figueres stressed the need for governments to take swift action to lead the world towards a low carbon future.
'Flooding in Pakistan and wildfires in Russia were so dramatic that many other major weather disasters in other parts of the world were relegated as secondary news,' Figueres said.

It was all silent and shrugged off as insignificant until he added “...and Obama will be elected to a second term!”

“Bet SF has a large earthquake in the not too distant future.”
We’ve had earthquake weather here a few times in the past month.

Bet SF has a large earthquake in the not too distant futureI've been hearing that since the late '60's, they even had a song about it. "Where will we go, when there's no San Francisco"....etc...But I do know they lie over the San Andreas Fault....don't hold your breath, though!

I thought the global warming scam was already discredited and that lefties were cooking up a new scheme to frighten the public into submission. Someone at the UN did not get the memo.

and that lefties were cooking up a new scheme to frighten the public into submission. Oh, you mean the giant asteroid that Rove and Cheney have directed at earth in 2012?
I know, I'm selling my gold and buying asteroid dust!

Just be sure that Nancy is at home when it happens, acting as hostess for several of her buds, including Babs, DiFi, and about half the Congresscritters in the CA deelegation.
Sounds like a plan to me!

And the MSM hyped the store of the huge impact Hurricane Earl would do to the East cost Labor day and scared many tourists off. We got a few sprinkles in inland Connecticut.

Bad stuff is happening. We can stop it, if everyone will just give up their liberty and put the wackos in control. Honest.

Has this group been around for a while?
Or...have they just changed the name to UNFCCC from IPCC?
Either way, they both smell bad.

Because weather (wate vapor changes) is a nearly instant feedback, there are only two possibilities. Either the slight increase in warming caused by CO2 (0.2 - 0.3 degrees) is starting to cause an increase in extremes or they are wrong and there is no increase in extremes and the world may actually warm a few degrees C in the next hundred years from water vapor feedback.
If they are right and there is an increase in extremes (heat and precip) then water vapor feedback will be negative or at least not very positive and there is no chance of any other climate catastrophe (Greenland melting, permafrost melting, etc).
